So you're saying that for 3M Sordell was the best possible buy at the time?

These were available to us and would have worked out then?
Sigurdsson, Jelavic and Pogrebnyak all moved in January for prices we could've afforded. Whether they would've come or not no-one will ever know, but really, the idea that there were no players on the planet available to us in January for £3mil or less who could have had more of an impact than Sordell, is plainly not true.

You wouldn't need to be a 'miracle player' to be of more use than what we ended up with. Coyle also knew at that point Holden was out for the season, that he didn't rate Muamba and, surely, that Pratley wasn't up to it.

Anyway, I think today was an excellent point and we're well placed to stay up. If we don't, not winning today will be very low down on the list of reasons why.

I felt as though it was two points dropped today. They really looked shaky at the back. We weren't much better but I felt we had more going forward. Enjoyed the game but was far too open for my liking!

Boyata is terrible at supporting the winger, he just seems to stand on the half way line. At least with Alonso we get some workrate and overlapping runs. Too many times Eagles and Ryo were left with a lot of work to do on their own. Although the lad can defend alright. I wonder if CB is his better position. I'm not at all convinced by Ream yet but I wouldn't want to be chopping and changing in those positions at this stage of the season.

Vela had a few decent touches. Looks like he isn't a sitter that can effectively break up play. I'd be concerned that Reo Coker went off. We desperately need a centre midfield that can break up play. Vela/Davies partnership just frightens me if we have to start with it.

And Davo rolled back the years. They guy has lost some quality but is putting some shift in atm. I think we might need to keep him fresh because he's making an impact. Not sure he can play four 90 min games at that intensity in two weeks anymore.

We're still odds against to go down......QPR are ODDS ON!!! Let's hope the bookies are correct. I think Villa will be the surprise drop in all of this.

I've just read that Chelsea only have one fit and available CB tomorrow, friggin' John Terry. Let's hope they don't have to do much defending tomorrow :(

I'd expect theyd call up that Chalobah lad, young but a big prospect. Made his england under 17s debut at 14 and is now captaining them and the reserves apparently. Maybe worth a loan watch seeing as we're supposed to have first pickings as part of the cahill deal (although I'd prefer Lukaku)

Not sure about the result, am happy with the point away especially after being behind. Although it seemed in the first half hour we could and maybe should have been out of sight. A truly horrible offside call didn't help. Move on to Spurs at the Reebok, with one eye on the other fixtures tonight.

Gee Petrov's early crosses are good. It seems the closer he is to the half way line, the better they are. He has been fantastic the second half of the year, and looks bloody good from the penalty spot too. We have looked pretty dangerous down the left side for a while now.

i disagree.
there have been very few games this season where we have been clearly the better side and not come away with three. this game was one of them (only one?)- therefore if we go down by one point this game becomes hugely significant. hence my depression this morning

by the same token there have been very few games (one?) when we have got something from the game when clearly second best- so if we stay up by one point the Swansea game becomes hugely significant.

I'd say not being able to beat a team like Fulham or Swansea at home is more damaging than drawing away at Sunderland. Losing at home to Norwich, Wigan and Villa even more so.....

Anyways we are not down yet.

Agree, there are plenty of times when a draw at the SOL, would be good and we're happy with a point. Another win for Wigan and Villa, and you'd have to think they're safe (we would then need 2 wins and a draw to overtake them and avoid the GD drop). Could see Wigan beating either Blackburn or Wolves, if not both. So I have them safeish.

Villa have Spurs (h) and Norwich (a) - I wouldn't put it past them to at least draw one if not both. And let's be honest, if we're arguing that Spurs are in a poor run for us, they're in a poor run for Villa too. So I reckon Villa will make it out.

Wigan pretty much "double whammied" us yesterday, they got themselves three points, and ensured that Spuds need the extra three points from their game in hand to go back above Newcastle

So that leaves us and QPR. Monday night may have some bearing on this - Redshite win, and it could be all over bar the shouting for City - and I can never recall City doing us any favours ever - so they could be on the beach by the time they play QPR last game. Only thing that might still be for them to do is enaure they remain unbeaten at home in the league. So I'll be hoping they can win on Monday and keep the title race going.

QPR's home form is good, so we need Chelsea and City to beat them, but I still think they'll beat Stoke at home.

Maybe a win and a draw will just about SOS.

Agreed BWFCi - the one in bold still pisses me off. Those 3 points would be nice now.

That's a very odd way of looking at it. We've won ten games, if you think we've been second best in 24 out of the other 25, then quite clearly the reason we'll go down is because we've been second best in those 24 games. Your depression should be focussed on how (in a league of teams not dramatically better than ourselves) we've managed to be so shite, so often.

it does.
but nothing you say takes away from the fact that probably the only game this season that, in the course of the run of play, we should have won but didn't will have in effect relegated us if we go down by one point.
we were being outplayed against Norwich way before the change in formation
the only other game i've felt we can justifiably say we were perhaps unlucky to drop points was Wolves at home

Overall in a 38 game season you get what you deserve..
Wins against wolves (9.4 from the German judge) and Qpr (goaline tech anyone?) saw some pretty massive rub of the green in our favour.. Similarly a point off Swansea was at best fortunate on the run of the game. I can't recall too many occasions where we deserved more from a game than we got..
We're quite fortunate to be in a position where it's in our own hands..
I'll take stopping up at any cost and if we do we'll deserve too for managing to find three teams worse? But I still have minimal confidence, but Chelsea are helping!
Are we in League 2 yet - Three seasons and we'll be away to Chesham

Any more genius predictions for us all?

Anyway, on to the match. Crap support considering we're in a relegation scrap, it wasn't the most expensive of games to get to! Davies did the business again, all will be forgiven for his three and a half years of crap if he keeps us up with more performances and goals like that.

Sam Ricketts was shocking, I think he's incapable of playing a basic five yard pass and luckily he does have the odd decent long ball in him as he showed for the Davies 2nd goal. I'm trying not to complain about him as he's still a million times better than Paul Robinson and Alonso but regardless of what division we're in next season we really need a replacement in that position.

Bogs should have done better for the 2nd goal, otherwise I thought we did alright and could have and should have got something more from the game.

QPR losing has made me a bit happier anyway!
