Re: Spuds at Home
I just looked at the form table and i wish i hadn't. qpr have won their last 4 games at home, stoke haven't won away in their last 10 games. I suppose we'll have to wait until 4pm sunday to see whether the form guide means anything

Thank you Tango. I'm sure you'd be man enough to admit you often don your rose coloured specs after a game but nowt rosie about em tonight. Absolutely bang on.TANGODANCER wrote:Ream had a great game. If we had a MOTM, he was it.
Playing high line against that sort of pace was positively nieve. Did they ever do it? No way, even though their defenders are faster than our forwards. For those who said KD looked knackered, really, I wonder why? Bloke played his bollocks off and,as usual got f-all from the officials, or indeed those around him. We had the chances and couldn't take them; N'gog, Eagles, Petrov, Boyata. Bottom line, they made us look second rate on chase balls. Can't remember one ball for one of our forwards to chase...oh, aye, Petrov had one. We lost to a far better team and who really expected us not to?
Mike Dean, what else is new? Get a penalty off him, you're having a laugh.
Now it's really serious. We daren't lose even to have a slim chance. Not quite dead yet though.

QPR have lost 7 at home, so... errr... they do!

Re: Spuds at Home
Not good enough.
Outclassed on the break, defended very naievely at times. Wheater is the only one for me who looks alive to the premiership, Ream may be a good player in time but he was poor tonight as he has been for a while. Let down by the midfield, NRC not fit and Mark c*nting Davies completey non existant as ever. Petrov didnt help out Ricetts enough...but f*ck me lennon and bale murdered us.
Look poor, particuarly at home to teams with ability to pick us off on the break.
i would be more confident if we were away sunday. I think we'll struggle now tbh.-

I usually put the rosie's on before a game, then they change to red sometimes, but mainly a sickly green this year.Harry Genshaw wrote:Thank you Tango. Despite everything, nice to see this from Elmander (in regards to BWFC and our relegation scrap)

Re: Spuds at Home
Biggest mistake believing we could win when at 1-1 and a bit on top..
Suddenly we all bomb forward up both flanks allowing a team who want to counter attack at pace to do that, over and again..
Glacial pace and thought, throughout
and Mark Davies hang your head in shame because you stole your match fee this evening..
fooked.. prepare to embrace the championship and watch the exodus.....

QPR beat them at home about two weeks ago.SmokinFrazier wrote:I think if you looked at this game in an unbiased manner, you'd have expected a loss. Forget all this nonsense about Spurs never winning at the Reebok. It's all irrelevant. What is relevant, is their team, their form and the differences between the clubs right now. All that considered, you'd have had to pick Spurs to beat us.
The scoreline was poor, absolutely, but we didn't look terrible in the first half. We should have had a freekick leading to their goal and we should have had a penalty. In the second half, we came out and looked fantastic, got a much needed goal and for 10 minutes, we were looking like we'd beat them. Unfortunately, we left ourselves too open at the back and Boyata in particular didn't work hard enough to watch Bale.
Poor scoreline, but an expected result and, crucially, we did show fight for 60 odd minutes. We didn't roll over like Blackburn did last week and unlike against QPR, they actually showed plenty of ability. 4-1 was harsh and we shouldn't dwindle on it too much.
Also, you lose the right to complain about tough fixtures if you lose the majority of the easy ones too.

Re: Spuds at Home
I thought the performance today was ok, not the worst this season. Beaten by speedy forwards on the counterattack with us pushed up.
This has to be the first time ever since I've been posting on here that I'm not as scathing about the game as Mr TD. Having said that I've thought we've been down for a while now, a win would have been a shock.
Vela has some nice touches when he came on.
SKD doesn't get fouls any more, no conspiracy, that's just how it is. Memo around the refs? Who knows. You can't keep playing him to win fouls when it isn't working. If you're playing him with some other tactics in mind that's fine, nothing against him at all.

Re: Spuds at Home
Very down tonight but have to be honest and say as expected we lost to a better team obviously with much to play for. Agree though with some of the comments on here that having worked so hard to get back level it was very naive to keep 'bombing on' which led to the masses of space on the break. Still think there's a chance from remaining games but it's looking slimmer because they look to be dead on their feet compared to some others especially around us. Have to say Vela looked good when he came on but our midfield is just much too porous. Not given up hope yet though.

Re: Spuds at Home
Coyle can't of seen the Spurs Blackburn game. Another Scottish genius in Steve Kean left both their full backs isolated vs Bale and Lennon. They murdered them. Same happened tonight I'm afraid.
And our only outlet in Petrov found it difficult skinning Walker(everytime I see him I'm more impressed). Normally he has the legs on the full back but just couldn't get past him. Yet he still managed to put a couple of decent balls in the first half. NRC played well to a certain extent but then loses the ball too easily. He has played very patchily for a few games now.
Davo can't play three ninety minute games in a week. We should have used him sparingly in the last week. A fit and firing Davo for WBA was in order now I'm not sure he'll have the legs.
The only person that wasn't aware of Spurs counter attacking threat before the game started was Coyle. It comes down to this. How the feck can we match Spurs in a 4-4-2 with our set of players? They've got more pace than us all over the park and the system leaves our full backs exposed. Boyata and Ricketts had no chance before a ball was kicked imv.

Re: Spuds at Home
at 1-1 we looked like we could have won that game- for me we showed a lot of spirit up until their 4th
but ultimately Spurs just had too much for us as i feared they would
the Sunderland game was eminently more winnable than this one
but we didnt win it and so we are down i fear, probably on Sunday

Re: Spuds at Home
My comments came from pure frustration. As soon as VDV burst forward I groaned aloud, knowing what was coming. Their goals were almost walk-ins (Adebayor's was) and their pace just blew us apart. Our frontmen were playing against far better defenders than theirs were and anybody who's watched Spurs this season knows they're a really good side. 1-0 or 10 nil mattered not in points terms (yeah,I know,GD) so we had to attack and go for at least one, but hopeful balls were never even an option and once we gave possession away.....bang. We really didn't deserve 4-1, that was from having to chase the ace, but that's what happens against a side with pace to burn.Armchair Wanderer wrote: This has to be the first time ever since I've been posting on here that I'm not as scathing about the game as Mr TD. .

Re: Spuds at Home
I've read enough of this thread to feel the despair...
We lost to a better team...
The formation didn't help but it isn't the reason we lost...
We had a real go, and had some fight until goal 2 and 3 separated by the blink of an eyelid did for us definitively...
I didn't expect us to win before the game... I hoped we would get something...
But i'm not having it that the season is over... Though it might be on Sunday... We must get at least a point to keep it going until the last game...
Sorry to state the obvious...
