I had him in my Fantasy Football team last season. He scored some useful points as a goalscorer, but was pretty mediocre on the not-letting-in-lots-of-goals points. Just saying like.

Remember Gary Cahill?
Saw him yesterday! Walked past him on Great Portland Street in that London. Surprisingly tall (I'm 5'10" so not supershort) and walked with the careful, suspected-bad-back gait that footballers often have (it's the same with Lee Dixon, who I've twice bumped into in the vet's...).

I wanted to say something to him - thanks; come back; good luck - but he was with what looked like his parents and their grandchild, so I left alone.

Is that walking with both palms on the lower back? In that case I'm consistently a professional footballer! I've bumped into Vaz Te too many times too remember and I consistently give him the nod and a muffled "alright" as I walk past. He must be thinking who the feck is this guy?!

And I'm surprised Villa fans can give a good critique of a player in the sea of rage that is Villa Park.

It's a good signing though I do hope he plays left back and I still think Ricketts would be best used centre right alongside Knight. Alonso cant defend, ream gets blown over too easily on breezy days and Mills has no pace.

More of a bandy-legged, stiff-backed shuffle. Subtler but definitely there.

I wasn't aware he played anywhere other than left back so I dont get the 'lets throw him in midfield' idea.

He looked a promising player early in his career but Liverpool, t'Rovers & Villa have all got shot for a reason and to see fans of Villa (one of worst sides in the Prem) delighted to see him leave suggests he has a way to get back to form.

Next time you see Lee Dixon, DSB; ask him if his missus has let him buy a pinarello yet? (please, just for me).

Is it too much of a stretch to claim him as the third Champions League winner to play for Bolton?

I'm a bit speculative. I'm hoping he's not another Robbo, but judging by the Villa fans reactions...

Villa fans have needed their scapegoats recently but I'm sure slipping into a well organised confident team Warnock will soon be back to his best. It's just a shjame he's come here i suppose.

I always thought he looked decent,he's not too old,he needs a fresh start and at this level I think he'll do fine. The important thing is that he frees Ricketts to play central(or right back until the penny drops that Mills and Ream cant hack it) I'm cerrtain he can defend better than alonso who if anything should be playing midfield as he can pass and has an eye for goal.

"he has moved for large sums of money in his career, so we know his quality"

This is how Coyle evaluates a players talent?

The mind boggles..

Aye, still waiting to see if they actually have any.

Will try to remember. But a mate of mine interviewed a well-known Team Sky rider last week, who said it's pointless spending more than £900 on a bike - above that, improvements are so incrementally tiny that there's no point paying for them unless you're doing the rest of it properly (ie training every day, never eating anything fun...)
