A Behind the Scenes view of yesterday's matchday

Hello,
I went to Hillsborough on a couple of occasions last season and after getting some wonderful feedback from their forum, I sent the club my reports and as a result I was invited to spend a day with the media at Hillsborough this season.

I chose to go to the game yesterday and I had a great day, seeing how the media side of things work at the club. I thought you might be interested in my report from the day, featuring a full match report, over 100 photos and also a story of my day.

One minor point is you've missed the nailed on pen we were due early doors, and I believe replays showed Sheff Weds pen was dubious...but I watched highlights when pissed. Perhaps it looked clear cut from the stands. Good work & good luck.

One totally unpleasant aspect of this game did pxss me off. The "Barceloana B" Sheffield player Rodri jumping up and waving an imaginary card at the ref after an Alonso challenge on him that wouldn't have knocked a house of cards over. Quite rightly he got a card himself for doing it. Hope his manager sorts that out. Leave that stuff in Barcelona.

The ref gave him what he asked for so no problem there

oh well at least he dosent play for us wouldnt that be a disgrace. glad we won, 2 home games now and a chance to challenge blackpool and co at the top. mind u i am sure coyle will still fu** it up, somehow

An enjoyable read. Don't take this the wrong way but if you want to make a career of writing, you have a slight problem with verbs. You say "Phil Brown, the former Hull City manager and Bolton player was sat close by." which may be normal in north country speech, but in a written report it should be either "Phil Brown, the former Hull City manager and Bolton player was sitting close by." or "Phil Brown, the former Hull City manager and Bolton player sat close by." Similarly with the photo caption "Stood in the press box".

Truth be told, Monty, he already writes far more ably than many applicants we get here. Some of them manage to spell "work experience" incorrectly in two different ways on the same application. I suspect that's what you get for teaching feel rather than structure: a technically illiterate generation. Still, it'll keep sub-editors in a job.
