Re: If Coyle gets the sack
I firmly believe we do have the players to make a positive impact in this division. It would be great to think there is some superb manager waiting in the wings somewhere but even if not, a half decent manager could get this lot organised into a better outfit than Coyle appears to be doing.

Did very well at Rochdale and seems to be doing OK with Barnsley.Bolton lad aswell. Certainly a possibility. The board need to look closely at management style. Something between the extremes of coyle and Megson would actually be a decent manager.

hmmm... if you run together Megson and Coyle - you could come out with Moyles... you heard it here first...
just our luck - it'd be Chris rather than David...

I agree, Harry. I've not seen any side with players the quality of ours, yet I've not seen a side as disorganised as ours.Harry Genshaw wrote:I firmly believe we do have the players to make a positive impact in this division.

I find it too much of a coincidence that Steve Kean resigned just as we're shite. I think there's something we're not being told.

Re: If Coyle gets the sack
Hello,
As a replacement (if & when) I would like:
Martinez or
Hill
Mcarthy
Coppell
Browny
Grayson
Adkins
Barker
Mellon
O'Driscoll
Warnock
Dowie (he'd frighten em into performing!)
But not..
Di Canio (he's mad as hatter)
Kean(e) (neither of em)
Curbishley
Davies
Strachan
Robson
Holdsworth
Mcginlay
Ferguson (son of devil)
Lee
Clark

Early front runners are Sooty, Elmo and KermitSmokinFrazier wrote:It'll be interesting to see who Blackburn get.
In all seriousness, yesterday's Telegraph had them pondering Keith Hill if they can't get Sherwood or Shearer

Re: If Coyle gets the sack
What type of football does Keith Hill like to play? Is he an attacking minded manager?
God knows why so many are mentioning Phil Brown. An arrogant, egotistical, thoroughly dislikable failure. He played for us, yeah, but I wouldn't want him within a million miles of a managerial position at the club. I'd only like to see Brown at the Reebok if we put on a rematch against Andy Todd.

Brown was a good assistant to Allardyce and made a pretty good fist of caretaker manager before Big Sam was appointed.
He may have an ego but what successful (comparatively) person doesn't?
Not that I'm advocating Brown for the job, just saying he's not that bad.

Re: If Coyle gets the sack
My preference may be controversial and cue the abuse !!, would be Gary Neville....he may be a red but he certainly knows his football, he'd get us organised, difficult to beat and would get instant respect from the players.
Put the United background aside, IMO he'd make a excellent manager - and would be my choice

Re: If Coyle gets the sack
PT: Gary Neville may well make a good manager, but not yet: he'd be better served with a year or two on the telly and coaching with England.
SF: Keith Hill has a reputation as a ball-playing manager, whose side very rarely wins away from home. A bit like the last guy, then.

Re: If Coyle gets the sack
90% of football management is about man management . Your football knowledge is of secondary importance.
See Mourinho, Sam Allardyce as examples in different ways.
Jose a 'non football' man is the best manager in the game bar none.
Sam Allardyce was never a really top level international as a player, but he learned management and brought in experts in their field from outside football.
Gary Neville could be a great manager, but the same was said about Andy Gray when Everton tried to tempt him. I don't see how a pundit translates into 'good manager'. Might as well take Jeff Stelling, Richard Keys, or Gary lineker on that basis.
So a big no, to Gary Neville. Not because he's an ex United player, but because the key skills required, he has no experience of, demonstrable or otherwise.
