Palace finished 17th but only 4 teams had a better defensive record.

He's known to be very keen on fitness.

These are two positives as we know both were lacking under Coyle. Fitness is a basic though(!)

He plays with a big striker in Murray with emphasis on his wingers, which as at Palace, are our strongest area of the team in my opinion.

Cautious optimism from me on this one. Any manager we could have appointed would have a list of negatives, it's just Freedman's main ones are 'unknowns' rather than the ones we know more about in someone like McCarthy. My main concern is that he probably wouldn't have been approached 6 weeks ago and they've got their recent results based on having the best player on form in the league.

But hell, we needed a change and I'd far rather we give someone like Freedman a chance than appoint from the usual merry-go-round of failures.

Palace fan here again

According to a palace blog he's only on 125K a year at palace, lowest paid manager in the league, and out of contract next summer, Bolton have offered him a 1.5m 3 year deal.

It seems our board arent convinced enough to make a strong counter offer (also heard they might now make an offer) I cant say I blame them, 2 months ago I think he was close to the sack, its difficult to offer someone a 3 year deal on the back of a 8 game run after 3 wins in 25.

If he goes on another bad run like last year our fans will want him out, maybe he knows this and will take the money on offer elsewhere

The one thing Id be concerned about as Bolton Fan is that he has said himself he's a big city person and has found it hard to settle up north (strange considering he is a scot) everytime he left palace he ended up hating it and coming back

Good job we're about 10 minutes away from Manchester then.

That mean if it doesn't work out, we can just pay the train fare? :-)

As for big city person, I'm sure the likes of Joofy would be only too willing to show him around Manchester - not as big as London, but plenty big enough.

Sydenham to (Central) London is about the same as Bolton to Manchester anyway.

Not convinced by this one but he can't be worse than the usual suspects of Souness/McCarthy/Keane etc. If he plays a 451 thats a start. The fitness stuff bodes well too. Fact is we're now in the market for this type of manager, we better get used to it.

Aye. I'll wait for PSG, but if it comes off I'm not unhappy. At least its known unknowns, rather than known deficiencies.

I will, however, be a tad unnerved if the Mark Curtis rumour gains any momentum.

Did anyone seriously think that Palace were promotion candidates this season?
No, me neither.

He's absolutely mad on fitness, the amount of trialists and potential signings weve turned down because they were not fit enough was getting silly, us palace Fans used to joke that even mo Farrah wouldnt be up to scratch, so If you have any players who have a poor attitude or are unfit then they will be shown the door.
does Freedman go for the science, sports psychology, prozone stats?

what are his methods?

Surely that means he's doing a bloody good job of being their manager? Because at the moment.. They're 4th.
