Re: Dougie Freedman - New Manager
They might have no other option. Remember it's not just up to us, Palace's new guy might want them out. Wouldn't rule them out from pitching up here yet. And given we want some new roles allegedly we may have gaps to fill still.....ohjimmyjimmy wrote:It would be odd to leave them in temporary charge for a game if they knew they were going elsewhere in a couple of weeks to a club below them in the league.
Don't be surprised if Lennie Lawrence plays a daring 0-9-1 formation tonight

Wonder why we havent released anything official yet.
Re: Dougie Freedman - New Manager
Welcome Dougie. I believe he'll do a good job, for no reason other than it's been a while since I felt optimistic about our club, and it's a much more pleasant sensation then the relentless negativity of the past year or so. I'm also very happy we didn't go for McCarthy or Souness.
I know some are comparing him to Coyle, which in some ways is understandable (young, Scottish), but in approach he seems very different: 4-5-1, keen on fitness training, etc.

Which above average manager would you liked to have seen us go for?

Re: Dougie Freedman - New Manager
For what it's worth (probably not much seeing as some journos still think Coyle is a good manager, and this one seems unable to construct a proper sentence), Ian McGarry of BBC 5Live wrote the following on Tw*tter: "Freedman one of the best young, intelligent and technically astute coaches in the UK. Blow for #CPFC. Coup for #BWFC. "

Since you asked on a personal level, as unlikely as it is, I'd have liked to wait a month or two for Solskjaer to finish up with Molde and try (again) to tempt him. Don't get me wrong, I haven't got an overinflated sense of the size of our club expecting someone like Mourinho as an extreme example, but DF isn't exactly inspiring anything in the fans I've spoken to.Sponge wrote:throwawayboltonian wrote:I'll be behind him and give my full support, but deep down I have a feeling that this is just a sidegrade; sacking one average manager and hiring another. He'll have my support and backing, as should be the case with all of us, but I think it's nothing more than a status quo ante. I would love to eat my words at the end of the season, but I can't see us finishing any higher than playoffs at best.
To finish in the play offs would be more than acceptable given the gap between us and the automatic places currently. We could then push on and win at the new Wembley to gain promotion to the premier league and thereby eradicated the foul memory of the last time we were there. Roll on May!
And good luck Doogie Howser!

And what if Solskjaer has already said he's not interested in coming to us, now or in a month?throwawayboltonian wrote:I'd rather we stuck with the caretaker set-up that we've got and took more time deciding on someone. Finishing in the playoffs will be a very good season – and after a start like ours, probably as good as we can hope for.throwawayboltonian wrote:IHe'll have my support and backing, as should be the case with all of us, but I think it's nothing more than a status quo ante. Welcome to Dougie. Hope the charlies don't get mixed up with *Dougie out!" and "The dugout". Now all we need is Holden back for the Dougie/Holden link.
Don't try to be a great man. Just be a man and let history make up its own mind.
