Re: Coyle and Phil have cost us millions!!!!!
I said enjoyable, not good. We had 4 seasons of being genuinely competitive, the rest we were only competitive with less than 50% of the division. All my opinion as we don't all have the same definition of enjoyable

Re: Coyle and Phil have cost us millions!!!!!
The Rioch years were the best , but then its all about personal opinion and that is most definatley mine. The game against Bristol the other week was one of the best matches I have been to in years and yet some of the football was awful , part of me thinks I dont care what league we play in just give me games like that every week. Do we really want to see 0 0 with Fulham , getting battered by Chelsea and then be told the only way we can compete is to play Megson / Big Sam football ? Let the prem keep their millions

Abdy's Twin,
"the original poster seems more concerned with finances ..."
I am concerned that with billions on the line in one of the most financially important seasons in he history of the English game we meekly went down to the ocean bottom on the HMS Coyle. FFS I had no idea such money was at stake. We have to go up this season or we may never get back. Sorry I liked my club in the Prem. As an exiled Wanderer I could watch them on the Telly every weekend. Now? Beh ..... Does that mean I am jumping ship? God no, just upset we are disappearing from Tje elite and didn't do more to stay up. Instead our survival run was the epitome of Einstein's definition of insanity: keep doing the same thing and expecting different results. Whether that wAs backing a manager clearly out of his depth, or that manager insisting on 4-4-2 and Prately we just kept banging our heads against the wall.

I usually just concentrate on the footy. Like I have said a few times the overseas rights are now being awarded for Prem matches and wedge is much bigger than I anticipated. The catharsis for this post was the North American and Asian bidding. Billions filling the coffers and we still have the Middle East to weigh in.

So Holden Midfielder, what you are saying is that you aren't really concerned about the money on offer, you're more bothered about being able to watch us on an internet stream?

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

With Gartside and Allardyce, we had several great years.
With just Gartside, everything went to hell.
Do the math.

Of course it's that simple. You might want to look at what happened to clubs like Charlton who were in a similar position to ourselves, when their long term manager left.H. Pedersen wrote:With Gartside and Allardyce, we had several great years.

Not many managers as good as Allardyce knocking around.
Most appointments will be failures. Not because the chairmen are clueless but because they simply have to pick from what's available.

Gartside is just one of those 1%ers who draws a huge salary no matter how badly he fails. It seems incredibly obvious that our success was entirely down to Big Sam. Gartside deserves credit for hiring him, and nothing else.

I'm not sure that's entirely fair. He gave SA scope & support, got Eddie D on board and, I belive, held SA back when his ambitions would have taken us into even greater debt.H. But hey, it's a forum. You don't have to be entirely fair ... Just so long as you realise it.
