Lists. We need fckg lists.

Football without lists is nothing ... THAT's what you should be saying.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.
"I understand you are a very good footballer" ... "I try".

Good piece but if I was a pedantic so and so, I'd point out to coffeymagic that Keegan didn't get sent off in our 3-1 win over the Toon, but I'm not, so I'll let it slide. :D

Well, well, well. You know I'd gone a lifetime thinking he'd been sent off as a final ignominy.

I could have Googled it of course but I've been Google/Wiki free for over a year now and I'm enjoying not knowing stuff rather than filling my brain with tosh.

Like I say John pulled us out after Newcastle fans took umbrage at going a goal down as we were dodgin bricks and coins so I think my young brain must have filled in a lot of the blanks.

Best fans in the world the Geordies don't forget.

I wrote it in a bit of a rush but think it comes across in the right spirit.

Mon 'eh white men.
I'm not asking you to 'think outside the box' I just wish you'd have a rummage around in it once in a while.

I don't think so, they've not asked me to send any money or start harvesting lima beans for the leader.

If I end up in a football stadium drinking Gatorade should I save you some?

8) are these people soon to replace the vegetarians - mocked and abused at the dinner table??

Coffeymagic: "actually, I'm google/wiki free."
Astounded guest1: "oh - ya - I could go google/wiki free if I wanted to - I don't google very much actually."
Coffeymagic: "quite a lot of people are going google/wiki free - it's much easier than it used to be."
Astounded guest2: "oh no - I mean - are you getting a balanced digital diet? you must have to be SO careful?"
Coffeymagic: "I seem to be surviving."
Astounded guest2: "Are you allowed to send email? do you do powerpoint?"
Astounded guest3: "pah - bollox - do you wear leather shoes eh?? eh?? bloody communist."

I'll elaborate.

There used to be a time when you either knew stuff/didn't know it/or couldn't give a monkeys.

Now thanks to teh googles everyone is an expert at googling stuff and we've lost the joy of not caring.

These days we have to care about everything and the world's going crazy. It doesn't matter if it's big or small we have to find out everything about it.

In 10 seconds flat and then forget about it.

Where once you'd sit around a table going 'Oooh, what was that song or who was in that filum' now there's always some arsehole whipping out their Iphone going 'I'll google it!'

No, don't google it, have a think about it. Talk about it. After you've thought about it either go and learn about it or dismiss it and move on.

There's a difference between 'learning' and 'finding out' about things. I'm 41 now and feel that the knowledge I possess has got me this far and if I've got this far without knowing what was number one on the day I was born then I can go the rest of my life without filling up useful RAM space in my brain.

Me, my dad and my brother were out a while back and there was a pub quiz on. We entered and were doing ok but when we looked about EVERYONE in the room had their phones out.

I asked the guy next to me why he'd bother cheating to win the 8 pint prize and he said, with all the conviction of someone about to go toe-to-toe for the Heavyweight Champion of the World title 'It's all about winning.'

Well not for me it int and I'd rather rely on my own memories and be wrong than rely on Google and be right.

For that reason I haven't googled anything for over a year.
