Where Are They Now? Dean Holden

Clubless after being released by Rochdale – and suffering personal tragedy over summer - he's settled in well at Walsall, where the fans have a great song for him. Good interview here.

Heartbreaking story. Always liked him as a player and definitely think he had the potential to become a regular for us until he broke his leg against Sheffield United (Paul Devlin challenge if memory serves me right but could be wrong on that one?)

His girlfriend (now wife) used to present kids TV on ITV and, fair play to her, she used to go and watch him every time he played for the reserves during his comeback in the days when they played at Leigh.

fck, that's harsh.

that 'wearing a united kit in bwfc training' thing is a dickbag move i can only see being done by united fans or liverpool fans, tho.

everyone else'd go "theyre paying me wages, i'd suppose i'd better wear their uniform at least"

hmm.

We weren't paying his wages when he was 14.

Seems a nice guy.

The story of his daughter is heart breaking. I'll never forget holding my son after he died and literally feeling the warmth leave him. The 'deadweight' is a surprise too. He seemed twice as heavy. Maybe that was just grief though. Anyway, no-one should have to bury their child.
