Whatmore (2), Waldron & Jones and WBA was probably someone like Ally Brown who popped a few in that year

Less than 9,000 on for the first home game that season. 43,000 on for the visit of Sunderland on the day after Boxing Day.

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Watching Aston Villa get a absolute spanking 8-0 has cheered me up a little
We're bolton wanderers we'll fight to the END!
Re: Boltons worst EVER result in your opinion???
Stoke Semi final for me. Certainly in my life time. Still think we're suffering the fall out from that to a certain extent.
Bolton 2-2 West Brom last season must be up there in terms of results that could have an impact on the club for years to come.
In terms of shear embarassment cos we've been played off the pitch then the 6-0 against Utd, 5-0 against Sheffield Wednesday, and 1-5 against Coventry would take some beating.

Who's that coming up the hill boys,
The Wanderers are coming up the hill boys,
They all laugh at us, they all mock at us,
They all say our days are numbered,
Born to be a Wanderer, victorious are we....

Southend away, we lost 5-2, worked out at a goal for every hundered mile.
Re: Boltons worst EVER result in your opinion???
The semi was pretty bad but my worst had to be Tranmere play-off
Pfffft.

Re: Boltons worst EVER result in your opinion???
Our two worst home results as defined by the score, I think, though stattmeister Worthy will doubtless cast an eye over this assertion, were 0-6 against Chelsea in the League Cup and 0-6 against the unspeakable filthy red shite from somewhere not far south...
I was at both these games...
Neither was a pleasure...
But losing to the vile mancs in such a way was totally, totally unbearable, and the atmosphere in the ground that horrible day was as poisonous as I've known (not anger, not despair, something hard to define... something like fury mixed with incredulity, hurt and impotence...).
This is not the most disappointing result I've experienced, there's a good few cup ties that beat it, but it is, by a distance the most soul-destroying I've ever been through...

Haha! i went to that one, season worked out ok in the end though. I was clinging to that yesterday at Peterborough at 5-2 down but then Afobe and petrov spoiled the nostalgia.jaffka wrote:Southend away, we lost 5-2, worked out at a goal for every hundered mile.

Re: Boltons worst EVER result in your opinion???
West Brom was one of the Browns - Tony, I think
But possibly Ally
Worst results, rather than most disappointing
Scarborough the lowest point
Peterborough - we've got players who could buy that club

the stoke game for me, without question
Re: Boltons worst EVER result in your opinion???
Tranmere away in the worthington cup semi-final. I remember Allardyce being under massive pressure from the fans after that one.
Stoke 5-0.
Stoke 5-0.

Too many to mention, for different reasons.
Wembley losses, games that caused relegation, games that cost us promotion are all easy to recall.
The one I remember vividly was a cold Dec night in 1989 at Burnden, 3rd division and a battering by Northampton 0 3.
No particular significance in the game, but remember saying as we came out "Thats it for me, seen enough of this shite!!".
Wish I'd listened to my own advice, as I wouldn't still be saying it after each demorallising loss.
Still it's part of being a Wanderer, remember the good times aswell and it's all been worthwhile (I suppose) !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Or perhaps BWFC 6 Ipswich 0, Sept 1963.
My 1st game at Burnden and I was hooked, if only I knew then that 1st season would end in relegation.
Should be used to it by now, but I'm not. Off for a sulk !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think that was actually the year we went up and might have been our only home loss. I remember being pretty peed off that there were a few Burnley fans in the Manny Rd North at the timenorm the jedi wrote:2-1 at home off Burnley on a Tuesday (?)night , not sure of the year but Martin Dobson was playing for them... one of our nearly seasons under Ian Greaves, and Burnley were struggling also rans, first time I was ever properly gutted by a football result... I have us 2-0 down with a late one to reignite hope and a grandstand but unsuccessful finish..
But I may have made it up... . .?
Bit of wiki.. You are right... Promotion season ... January ? I had it later in the season in my mind ... Unreliable as ever..

0-5 United last season. With Rooney becoming Falcao every time against us.
1-5 at Boro in 2007. Don't know why, it just stayed in my memory.
Of course, Stoke. Definitely the worst one.
