Development Squad

Post by Salford Trotter » Fri Feb 01, 2013 4:53 pm

playing Man City tonight k.o. 7pm @ Hyde Utd, anyone fancy popping down?

Gregus, Bolger, Holden and Wheater in the team so maybe worth having a peak at two of our new signings

Trouble is he's going to have to be up to taking them as opponents aren't going to say "give him an easy time, coz the poor love's been poorly".

That said & done ...... feck !!

He's hobbled off after being down for a minute, apparently it's the same leg De Jong broke

Is he still on the sidelines?? It can't be broke or anything serious if he's still there....

Jan Gregus with a 35 yard spanker bouncing in from the underside of the bar.

Apparently Holden said he's "ok", so maybe it was just a knock.

Let's hope it's just a precautionary move.

Said it mostly on Twitter but what happened was this

Loose ball in midfield rolling in direction of the City goal, Holden and a defender charging towards it. Holden stays on his feet and nicks it away, but the opponent jumps in with a one-footed lunge and catches him. At the time I thought a studs-on-foot injury (e.g. metartarsal) but I was 40 yards away. Holden stays down for treatment for about a minute, before getting up and walking by his own power to the opposite sideline and then sitting for more treatment. Here he punches ground in frustration. Obviously they decide to take him off and the boot and sock come off. Holden throws sock against the advertising board. Sub made about 2 minutes later and Holden walks round the edges of on his own the pitch with barefoot. Physio was walking alongside him so could have helped him if he'd thought it wise.

What did you think of Bolger and Gregus?

Other than Bolger's hair and Gregus' goal they weren't particularly standout.. City forward Guidetti scored one header and had another free header he put wide from 6 yards. The pitch wasn't good so perhaps not the best litmus test for Gregus.

Lester got a couple of good crosses in the box and set up the first goal with an interception in midfield.

Looks like what I thought was 'studs on foot' was in fact just a touch higher and on his ankle. His own studs mustn't have been in the turf, thank god.

Match highlights on YouTube include a great strike by Gregus.
