Re: Return of the Wheats!
wiki says he retired through injury after playing for us? Newsome, I mean. Maybe that was a factor?

He seemed good, but how many games did he play ? (15 ... I looked it up). I think there may be something of the dead rock-star about him ..... in that he left us before we got to the point of seeing his limitations & so he's an un assailed legend.
I'm not saying he wasn't good, just that maybe we overestimate him.
Plus, I haven't made any outrageous, hyperbolic statements since I've come back so thought this was a good place to start. I still think Michael Ricketts is the most naturally gifted finisher I've seen in a Bolton shirt
I think Klasnic was a more naturally gifted finisher than Ricketts but overall Klasnic didn't have the all round attributes to really pull off the runs and finishes that Ricketts made them look so effortless. It's odd, Anelka was brilliant at times but I don't ever consider him to be the best finisher we've ever had.
Bruce Rioja wrote:Been saying this for weeks. When he's not loitering at the back post he makes a near post run to draw the defender. Is that so that Chun Yong Lee can run in an use his height advantage? It's fecking ridiculous. Both attackers and defenders should fear coming up against Zat Knight. Instead it's almost like them being given the afternoon/evening off!mummywhycantieatcrayons wrote: It has attracted comment before, but Knight's role at offensive corners and free kicks is so weird.
Why does a bloke his height just loiter limply at the back post rather than trying to make a run from the edge of the box and compete in the air with some momentum?
Agreed. Take Abdoulaye Faye or even Radhi Jaidi for example. Neither of which were as big as Zat Knight yet both were a damn sight more willing to throw themselves into the danger zone to get the goal. Zat Knight is arguably the better defender (though there's really not much in it) but in terms of putting the fear into the opposition I don't think he does himself any favours.

Klasnic reminded me of McGinlay as a player :-/

If that's a serious question... No, because Monday's development game against Stoke was also called off.thebish wrote:wheater's return... is it still on track? has he been playing games for the stiffs or anything??

it was a serious question! I only ask cos it was once bracketed with Holden's return - and he's making celebrity appearances in real games now!Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:If that's a serious question... Re: Return of the Wheats!
I think he was a bit behind Holden. (Holden's been coming back since September 2011!
)

Re: Return of the Wheats!
It seems an age ago when the site was alive with chat about imminent returns for Wheater, Holden Vela and of course Mark Davies, plus the signing of Kamara and Craig Davies. These things were going to give us hope, maybe even see us pushing on toward a playoff spot!
I guess the prospect of these guys joining in may have spurred the rest of the squad on to better things. Or maybe Craig really is that good!

Are Mills and Andrews back before the end of the season? Also I guess I missed something with Vela, is he injured again?

DF said a few weeks ago in the BEN that he thinks he put Vela into the first team too soon, and that he needs to develop a bit more in the "Developmental side".Enoch wrote:It seems an age ago when the site was alive with chat about imminent returns for Wheater, Holden Vela and of course Mark Davies, plus the signing of Kamara and Craig Davies.
