Leicester fan of my acquaintance can't understand why they're haggling. Says they rapidly need to cut wages and raise money, and jettisoning Beckford would be great for them.

Apparently Trent Sainsbury has just been on trial at FC Basle

Probably one of the reasons Dougie was quick off the mark signing Tierney and Baptiste. Remains to be seen if we hold out for Dawson, although I can't understand why WBA don't play him when both CBs are 33/34?

Nothing mentioned on his wikipedia page apart from he's still on loan to us:

Wasn't it a 1 year loan? If so, he's with us until Jan.

That is indeed it, at which point the loan may or may not become permanent. Plays havoc with my Contract Expiry tidiness.
The official site wrote:The Slovakia Under-21 international midfielder joins on a year-long loan with a view to a permanent deal. “Jan is a very talented player who I have monitored for a while now,” Dougie Freedman explained. “We’ll have a closer look at him now and see how he gets on.”

So, does this mean if he's here till January then we are likely to see him get a couple of games in the first team?

"We'll see how he gets on" - but Dougie certainly seems to be racking up the young 'uns to push for places: Cian Bolger (CB), Hayden White (RB), Gregus (CM), Josh Vela (CM), Conor Wilkinson (F), Tom Eaves (F), Sanmi Odelusi (F)... there may be more...

If Dougie brings a couple of those through he's done a good job. Vela has looked decent enough from what I've seen so far.

And then a few years younger than those you have Luke Woodland who's represented England U19's (i think) as well as Zach Clough and Tom Youngs. Very positive signs!

DF has already said "you'll love Zach Clough" at a press conference

No saying he's imminently in line but the Development squad are training in La Manga with the big boys this summer and DF's made no secret of his intention to promote youth.

As a legend once said, "the door to the front team is open to anyone"

Good policy to have and obviously ED must want some players to come through or else why invest all that money in youth development?

On a side note just been perusing this site: http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/en/spiel ... asics.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Noticed that Danny Butterfield is on a free this summer, please don't let Dougie see that?

Matthew Upson too !!!

He should wait to see who KD signs for first.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

If Dougie cant get Beckford, off that list he could do worse than give DJ Campbell or Danny Haynes a punt
