Re: Club Rebranding
Can't say how pleased I am that Phil has seen sense and fired off Quick Quid.
The new badge? Don't think it looks very good - to me it looks like a Bolton Badge you'd make if you were doing it yourself for your Computer Studies O'Level and the topic was 'Bolton Wanderers'.
Looks a bit 'blocky' to me.
Still, I suppose that's the least of our worries.
Come on you Whites!

I'm not asking you to 'think outside the box' I just wish you'd have a rummage around in it once in a while.

In my mind there is a difference being managed and represented by someone who has declared themselves a fascist in the past, than signing up to a sponsorship deal with a legal, loans company.
As I've said before why is there not opposition from these protestors to Reebok? Or Adidas?
I've not changed my mind I don't care which legal organisation sponsors our club. The fecking Tory party could sponsor them and I'd not really care. It's money for the club that I want to see prosper.

Councillor Morris is now happy.
Which is nice.
Don't knock someone who did a job for her constituants. These bed sheet warriors did something other than piss and moan on a forum and guess what they got something changed.
How dare people take the moral high ground when they themselves haven't got the bottle to do something about it.

to most of us - yes - but surely not to someone who has "no fecking clue where the morals of a football club should be." and is only interested in "success on the field". (are not Di-Canio's views - whatever they are - and they are far from clear - legal?)

What a very strange post. A couple of things strike me here as being somewhat nonsensical. F'rinstance, just how much bottle does it actually require to sign a petition? I think bottle is over-egging it, don't you.DJBlu wrote: These bed sheet warriors did something other than piss and moan on a forum and guess what they got something changed.

And while we are at it, how do you know the petition signers and the forum moaners are not one and the same set of people, uh? They may be pissing and moaning as you put it after having summoned the bottle to put pen to paper.
That's not a leopard!

I'm not so sure this was all orchestrated from the off.
Either way, as someone else pointed out, it's given encouragement for people to have a petition for every bloody thing now, in the expectancy that they get 5,000 sat on their fat arses on a couch ticking a box on a website and they can get anything changed from now on!

Incidentally, I was referring to Councillor Cliff Morris, leader of Bolton Council. He wasn't a 'her' the last time I was in Bolton. All things can change, of course.
If you want to see what Councillor Morris has done for his constituents I would suggest you just have a little walk around Bolton town centre. Start in the Market Hall.
I think you should now resume your position on the moral high ground. It suits you up there.

Re: Club Rebranding
It doesn't matter how we got here. The right thing has finally been done.
Well done to BWFC for realising they'd made a massive mistake, well done to the club for listening to the fans, unlike other clubs such as NUFC who seem happy to be sold down the river at every twist and turn and well done to the fans who stood up and said 'no'.
Money's not everything.

If BWFC had announced Quick Quid as the new sponsor and nobody had kicked up a fuss, they'd have looked massively stupid coming out a week later saying 'Actually, we're not with Quick Quid we're with Bolton Uni'.
So either they misjudged the strength of feeling people have about Quick Quid and have made a swift u-turn, or they anticipated perfectly people's reactions to Quick Quid and harnessed it for a PR excercise.
Either way, pro-actively or retro-actively, fans not wanting us to be sponsored by Quick Quid have led to us not being sponsored by Quick Quid. That's job done, no?

Someone told me the other day that QQ were going to sponsor Sheffield Wednesday but then they didn't. Bit of a pattern forming, if trueohjimmyjimmy wrote:The cynic in me has suspicions that we never intended to go with QQ, but that they slipped us a few quid for some publicity for a week. The club looks good for listening to the fans and bringing in a new sponsor (straight away - but weeks of negotiations needed surely?), QQ bow out gracefully but having had their company spoken about, hit on Google, and their name brought to the front of the line of these bastard money lending companies that people will still continue to want / need to use. I'm sure wonga are sat there applauding their savvy.
Anyway that's the cynic in me. Based on nothing but cynicism. He doesn't come out often
The players you fail to sign never lose you any money.
Re: Club Rebranding
Where did I mention signing petitions?
My argument is people are quick to critisize those that are willing to fight for what they believe is right.
This is the trouble with the uk as a whole as we'll piss and moan about how things should be done but we do nowt about it.
P.s. I take the hit on Counciller Morris as I had Julie Hilling in my head when replying. No not in that way.

Re: Club Rebranding
People already do start petitions for anything and everything. You only have to look on facebook to see that, in between all the lolz, hugz and blesses there are a million and one people trying to 'ban cancer' or 'stop the peedoes' simply by 'liking' something.Tombwfc wrote:ohjimmyjimmy wrote:Lost Leopard Spot wrote:DJBlu wrote: These bed sheet warriors did something other than piss and moan on a forum and guess what they got something changed.

We all changed our avatars to cartoon characters how did that go? We all said we wanted third world debt cancelling - did that happen? Some things collect a lot more ticks than this but for some reason the club listened and thankfully changed its mind.
That does not happen very often we should be glad it did.
And for those of you thinking up conspiracy theories - do yourself a favour, leave the lap top off when you get home tonight, read a book and have an early night eh?
you need it.

Sorry, you'll have to talk me through this.. Companies who don't post operating profits don't pay taxes? Are you sure that's the case? Because I can name a couple of examples of businesses that couldn't afford to pay their taxes because they were losing money......Beefheart wrote:We won't pay tax since we don't make a profit. Even if we started making a profit we wouldn't pay tax on it for years. FibrLec will probably be entitled to R&D Tax credits (100% of expenditure if they are an SME, 30% if considered large), but BWFC won't be.

Especially one who's previous sponsor was a company that raised funds for businesses in Africa, some of whom then invest in certain political groups in certain unstable countries. AhemBWFC_Insane wrote:[

I do disagree with your last line about the money being the most important thing.. Again, I think there's more to the game of football than throwing ethics out of the window just so so you can make the most cash you possibly can.. Wether the income is massive or miniscule.
