Jermaine Pennant has been released by Stoke, worth a place on the bench at a relative cheap wage?

Got a great delivery, but as said, he's a bit of a shit by all accounts.

He's clearly a capable player but I think we need to get used to Dougie signing compliant, hard working, players who fit the Dougie mould. I'd be surprised if he is that sort.boltonboris wrote:Got a great delivery, but as said, he's a bit of a shit by all accounts.
odd that he couldn't get regular games at Stoke .... but maybe that tells a tale.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

I think that says more about the manager than the player.. He's been playing full backs on the wings

But Pennant does have something of the night about him. In the past when I thought of him it was the way Allardyce's Notts County had sold him to Arsenal; but then that was surpassed when his personalised-numberplate Porsche was discovered at Zaragoza railway station with five months' worth of parking tickets and he claimed he'd "forgotten" he owned it. No good can come of that story – and that's before the numerous driving convictions, including the one where he told the rozzers he was Ashley Cole. More details on those here, should you need them.
Aaaaaaaaanyway, Hughes has also released six other Stokies. All but one are thirtysomethings – Dean Whitehead, Matthew Upson, Rory Delap, Mamady Sidibe and Bolton-Born-Carlo-Nash; the exception is six-foot Manc midfielder Matthew Lund, but as he's going on 23 and has only ever played 3 games above the fourth-tier level, he doesn't sound like the answer. Neeeeeext!

Wouldn't surprise me if Baptiste chose to go and play for that inbred, attention seeking over rated tw*t Holloway!

I think we should ask bobo and pru to debate whether it is necessary actually to sign...ChrisC wrote:Nothing definite then regarding pen to paper of any kind. Time will tell I suppose.TKIZ! wrote:http://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/ ... on-4005885
