How Do We Line Up?

Post by ChrisC » Sat Jul 20, 2013 11:15 am

If we don't bring anybody else in between now and the start of the season, what would your line up be?

At home I would go with the following. Not included Holden yet because we don't know how he will return to us.

Away I think Dougie will stick with 1 up top like last season. So something like this..

Nice hybrid upfront 8) The formation site doesn't let me add a slash.

Starting with Hall? Any Chungy sightings so far in pre-season?

It could be like that. Perhaps Chungy won't start though?

Bit early for this thread to be an accurate predictor, methinks, but it's always fun and will become more realistic over the fortnight. Chungy and Marv have only just started training...

Still got a feeling Andrews will start the season - unless he's traded out.

I'd like a new CB instead of Knight and would play Mavies behind Ngog when fit.

I already disagree with what I just posted, maybe take Lee, Holden out and Put Hall and Beckford/Sordell

I'm not quite getting why everyone thinks Hall will start?

Looked lively every time he got the ball today. Like the way he tracks back as we'll.

Who did we play on the left last season? I can't for the life of me remember. Also this little exercise shows us just how stacked we are in the strikers department and maybe centre midfield. Just bring Dawson home Dougie!!

He'll start because we don't have other natural left-footers for that wing. He sounded very lively and menacing, at times, today.

He taken players on very well and beaten them in the 2 games this season(I know they are not championship players) but I can se him being a marked man very quickly when the season starts and will get 2 plays on him as soon as the ball goes out to him.

Good to hear! That said, I wouldn't be surprised if Eagles and chungy end up on the wings for the kickoff. We have a lot of strikers to play up top, so seeing eagles in behind would surprise me a bit.

Also, didn't sordell play out wide a bit last season? (I may be imagining this)

Ahh so we have played both at the same time before? Thanks for that, my memory really is atrocious!

The back line is worrying me. We don't seem able to stop teams scoring ( carried over from last season) and wheatear , knight is not the right pairing for the cb's IMO. Can't see any of the development squad filling the roles to soon either. A cb that's comfy on the ball and can play a pass is a major priority for me.
And nt sure about Baptiste pace either, got out run a couple of times today. Hope I'm wrong and guess time and few more games will tell.

Probably because he started in what was probably our most important game last season.
True he was taken off, but Dougie trusted him to start. After a full pre season with us, I fully expect him playing v Burnley.

Hall will be a starter because Eagles will be more of an attacking midfielder behind the strikers. Dougie confirmed he wants Eagles to play that role earlier in pre season.
