It absolutely is. And if a club is prepared to offload a player in favour of Philippe 4ucking Senderos, then the omens aren't good!!mrkint wrote:Is that the Knight alarm?Bruce Rioja wrote:Oh no. DEFENDER THAT'S PLAYED FOR FULHAM ALERTChrisC wrote:We are being linked with a defender at long last..

Re: The "Nothing to see here"Transfer thread
The clueless cnut was just talking about Lewis Grabban of Bournemouth, playing just around the corner from his old 'stomping ground' (hate that phrase) of Crystal Palace. The distance between the two places is approximately 110 miles. A bit more than 'just around the corner' by any stretch.Lost Leopard Spot wrote:By the way. Was I the only one who noticed that Beagrie-the-Sky-Pundit make reference in the build-up to Burnley-Bolton how he'd like to see maybe a Beckford-Sordell partnership. A lot of he research he put in then, eh?

QPR, Reading, Wigan, Us, Forest, Leicester, Watford, Brighton. The rest of this league is pish. Someone will put a run together, but I'd be surprised to see the top two come from outside that. I think Watford, QPR and Reading have much better squads (rather than XIs) than we do, and so I think top-2 is doable, but not to be expected. Top 6 minimum target.

I hope to god the players aren't thinking the way you are. You can't take any team with a pitch of salt in the Championship. There were a lot of upsets last year and I don't see that changing this year. If the players are complacent again we'll miss the playoffs.Prufrock wrote:QPR, Reading, Wigan, Us, Forest, Leicester, Watford, Brighton. The rest of this league is pish. Fortunately I don't think Dougie will be pandering to any egos and will be more than willing to drop a player that's not pulling their weight.

Who is taking anything for granted? IMO it's clear we have one of the better teams in the league. It's not complacent to expect the players to show that. You have to balance treating other teams with respect and not being complacent with having an attitude which doesn't accept failure.Chrisfu wrote:I hope to god the players aren't thinking the way you are. Re: The "Nothing to see here"Transfer thread
Didn't DF say last week that he'd back his first XI against any team in the league (but wants more squad depth)?
Re: The "Nothing to see here"Transfer thread
I thought Chris Bird was meant to be really good why all the gloom. I would have preferred Aaron Hughes but would never happen as he is there captain.
The above post is complete bollox/garbage/nonsense, please point this out to me at any and every occasion possible.

Re: The "Nothing to see here"Transfer thread
I know quite a lot about Baird, he's a solid defender who I've seen play across the back four. He's generally reliable but has that odd mistake like most defenders. He has a very good work rate and attitude which is maybe why Dougie apparently wants him.
Only major problem is that he is 31 and isn't a long term option.

Chris Baird sounds like the exact opposite of a Dougie signing. Really can't see it.

It does sound like agent trying to push QPR.
But he's not a million miles away from Danny Butterfield, is he?

Butterfield was a very cheap end of season loan to plug a gap.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:It does sound like agent trying to push QPR.

Can't see us touching Baird.

Baird could plug two gaps. (Not at the same time, he's not a porn star.)BWFC_Insane wrote:Butterfield was a very cheap end of season loan to plug a gap.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:It does sound like agent trying to push QPR.

I'm not saying he's a definite, in fact I'd be surprised, but not because he's "not a Dougie signing". Although he may like promoting youth, and dislike doling out fat contracts to has-beens, I think our manager's a bit more multi-faceted than that and might well sign the right-minded player no matter how old he is or where he's from.
