Are there any Wanderers?

Post by newboy » Thu Sep 19, 2013 6:49 pm

It's been pointed out on more than one occasion that we have a really good squad that doesn't mean we have a good team.
How many would you class as Wanderers in that squad? I can't think of one Spearing at a pinch because he wanted to come back to us, but the rest?. In recent teams there were a few K.D. Campo , Gudni, Super John ,Bruno Kevin Nolan in his time maybe Speedo, but this present crop. They get paid win lose or draw they'll all bail out when the drop comes and think nothing of it.None of them deserve to wear the white shirt Zat Knight especially , how many times has he been seen laughing and joking coming off after a defeat? All we seem to get after a defeat are sound-bites from the manager and players, it's a job to them it's my club to me.

Fulham was the one that stuck hard in the craw, as I recall.

I've said this for years. Each team needs at least one player who the fans can focus their energy on.

The list you've given pretty much sums this type of player up but they seem pretty thin on the ground these days.

Tierney perhaps could be that player, the one who gets the crowd going with a tackle perhaps Eagles when he's in the mood but basically I think most of them are pretty interchangeable these days.

Bring back numbers 1-11, make players fight for the shirt and we might see a bit of 'get tae' about the team again.

Leave names on the back for the weans.
I'm not asking you to 'think outside the box' I just wish you'd have a rummage around in it once in a while.

Totally agree.

The New York Yankees don't have names on their shirts when they are at home.

Theory is they are team not individuals.

That whether or not a player has his name on the back makes the blindest difference.

Also, what it definitely isn't is some smug wankery stunt. Arsenal announcer reading out the first name stylee.

That sums it up Hoss. At one time they got wage packets weekly, now they all have offshore accounts. Not a single player amongst them I'd call a true Bolton Wanderer. Jussi, Nolan, Campo and K.D were real Wanderers. Now?

Having another drink, or removing the names from shirts?

I'd bank on "having another drink" to be honest from what I've seen of our shower.

Not as much difference as them all having sensible haircuts, covering up all tattoos and returning to black boots will. No more individualism

What, the unused sub!? Not impressed with DF at moment but he was right to drop Medo. Looks and plays like he regrets signing (understandable) and can't be arsed (unacceptable). Very disappointed in him after the way he started last season.

if they make him captain , then he'd have to be arsed, i suppose he'll not be able to talk to old teamates like zat does. which , i dunno , not checked, probably carries the death penalty.

but make him captain , play him in the middle.

up and atom !

A lot to be said to this, Jin ladd. Add "having proper names and you're onto something.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.
"I understand you are a very good footballer" ... "I try".
