Mendy was utter wank at full back. He ended up being ok on the right wing simply because his pace allowed us to stretch teams.

And he NEVER tracked back!

On the subject of Mendy - yeah, he was shite, but I'd like to challenge the assertion that he never tracked back.

I remember one game where he sprinted (at Mach 5, like he did) to the byline with the ball. He then dithered (like he did), and lost the thing. He then tore back down the pitch at Mach 6, chasing the counter attack, damn near beat the opposition to the opposite touchline, and stopped the cross.

So there's at least one example...

The exception that proved the rule.

I remember Nicholas Anelka losing possession on edge of the opposition penalty area. The dispossessor took off down the field with Anelka in pursuit. Our Nic tracked him to the edge of OUR penalty area then executed a perfect sliding tackle to regain said football and then passing it to a Bolton player to begin the attack anew.

He's still just a striker though.
