Does the manager set the player's wages ? Serious question as I have no idea.

I've a theory on that (well, it's as credible as the Daily Mail's ;) ) If Wigan don't go up I reckon Rossler will go back to Brentford for Clayton Donaldson, thus leaving a Sordell sized hole in their frontline. Don't put any money on it, like, it's just my take on it.

I really wanted to cut back in with 'There's just one more thing....' only.... there isn't. That's me spent. :(

A one-year deal, too. Which is fine. Meal tickets no longer reimbursed.

Good.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Yep. This. We need to be leaner. Giving Danns a one year deal is excellent from the club. If he plays well and we are in the position to, no doubt that can be extended.

But I hope we shy away from long term deals for older players now, in the main. There will always be the odd exception, but mistakes of the past mustn't be repeated.

Try-before-you-buy and getting the permanent deal sewn up early sounds a bit sensible to me, what's happening?
The players you fail to sign never lose you any money.

At 31 we'd hardly be wheeling him out in a bath chair at the end of his contract had we given him two, but overall I'm pleased that he's agreed to sign permanently. Do we have first dibs on him at the end of next season, do we know?

Aye, but if he had a bad season we'd look on a 2 year deal as bad business.

I am sure if Danns is offered a further deal if would be no issue in the future.

Locking good young players down over time is more important now and where most resources must go.
