Has anyone been treated to a better first Whites game?

Had a great time. Away end had a great atmosphere. Not a second without chanting.

The game itself was all us. We were on top for 95% of the game. Wednesday were quite dreadful. Should have put 7 passed them in all honesty. Chungy and Danns missed a couple of sitters. Beckford couldn't stay onside and his touch couldn't match his intelligent runs. Looked past it today. Hall had good feet and Ream did his job to a tee. Trotter... what a screamer. Loved the Yaya Trotter chant haha. Kellet looks like he could be something in the future. Could have smashed one in on the near post but unselfishly cut it back to Danns (who was denied by Kirkland). Hope he gets some good game time next week. A little wasteful overall, but who cares!

I'm a happy Wanderer tonight!

^ Glad you had a great debut game, Vertigo. Are you here for the Brum game next week? A bunch of us are meeting up for an ale after the game and I'm sure we'd all be chuffed if you could join us?!

Threlkeld and Kellet are both locals and Bolton supporters !

Can anyone report on how they performed ?

Personally, I thought both were good, albeit Wednesday were awful. Threlkeld didn't stand out at all, in a good way, even looks a bit like a mask-less Ream. Kellett was good too but we'd obviously been told to not give away possession. Should have scored a couple in that second half! Dougie out!

It was like we were organized with sophisticated tactics and they were just running around taking shots from set pieces. Dougie in!

Just before he scored I'd been thinking about Trotter, on the one hand he just seems to amble about without making tackles, but then he scores. Then I felt he's a kind of threat from midfield and also slows the game down in front of our back four quite well. Against a team like this I thought he's exactly what we need in combination with a lot of speedy wingers and attacking players.
The players you fail to sign never lose you any money.

I'll be there, will be staying across the road so could be an opportunity to see how the locals do

As for the kids, I thought Kellet stood out. Like I said hope he gets some good game time next week.

Kellet has always looked top notch and today showed me no reason do doubt that statement, he was brilliant tbh as soon as he come on he was like a breath of fresh air taking on players and able to beat them. Threlkeld was alright, good in the challenge but did give the ball away on a couple of occasions.

I thought we were absolutely superb and could have won 5 or 6 1 if Beckford had timed his runs a bit better, he was on fire although he was helped by the fact we were playing against the slowest defence known to man.

Maybe so, but what was the last defender doing? He looked at Danns twice and didn't think of clearing the ball. :conf:

how on earth did the (TowerFM??) commentators who Tango was channelling get the idea that it was Danns who fed Beckford?? :conf:

They didn't. I've already said (in the thread) I mis-heard it. The error was mine, not Tower.

It was the wisdom of the Orient. You're a goalie and an opposition player is running at you unchallenged. Will he shoot left or right? He has to leather it one way or the other so you're all tense and the last thing you expect is a soft sidefoot straight underneath you. Chungy showed great cunning and fooled him completely. That's my story anyway and I'm sticking with it.

I do like the relaxed approach to defending from that lad at left back on Danns' goal.
What a hero, What a man...... Ooooh, what a bad foul...

He got a nice assist for Chungy's too! Then scored a peach. We were linked with him under Meggo I think.
