We were the better team overall, and it was a good effort. Two sloppy goals given away, and we can't finish our chances off. Disappointed with the result, but feel positive we will get it right under Lennon

All well and good, Fella, but where the feck were our centre backs on each of their goals?

How unlucky are we to go away from home have 19 shots and only 1 go in and let the opposing team take 2 from 2.

Football is a cruel game sometimes.

30 shots in Lennons two games but only two goals and both of those from defenders.

Very unlucky but they gave it a real go....a long time since we had so many shots, corners and dominated possession away from home like that.

For me the issue is Beckford as our one striker, he just never looks like scoring I'd love to know why he's gone from being reasonably prolific at Leeds & Everton to looking like he doesn't know how to score with us.

Put M Davies, Clayton & Mason in from the start on Saturday, play with the same spirit, passion and drive as tonight and we will win 3-0

I doubt that luck plays much of, if any part in it. If you gift a side two goals and lack accuracy with your own chances then you'll lose games.

I'm encouraged (bizarrely) by a 2-1 loss.

Yes, pi$$ poor defending and yes 1 goal from 19 shots isn't good either. But how different is the underlying change, from what we've been seeing? Lions share of possession too.

We rarely set the world alight in London anyhow, and TonyDomingo's turned up - so it was always going to be uphill. But looking forwards to Saturday (Not said that for what seems like ages)

Home game is a different story, a similar performance and we'll be all over them, so we really have to be winning that game. With 2 quick away games and no time on the training ground between them, I think that performance-wise we've exceeded all expectations, and results-wise done as well as could be expected. He now knows a lot more and can start working on the failings that cost us points tonight.
A good home win would make a massive difference to making that happen quickly I think.

Hopefully, one of our Darn Sarf contingent, would be good enough to put up a match report for us? Sounds from the short posts from TonyD and Twilight that we played pretty well, but would be good to get the full script. :-)

I always feel if we get beckford scoring he'll work well here...but very low on confidence perhaps and I am not confident in him turning it round.

Masons an interesting one - but glad clayton getting a chance, and craig davies been the best of the bunch in my view!

Get a goalscorer we could fly up the league.

I can't remember seeing a bolton team with so much tempo, so many passes, so many shots, or have so much possession! Was impressive. Ultimately tho, we can't defend and we can't finish. Good display. Confident we'll smash Brentford on Saturday. Nice atmosphere too, enjoyed myself. Been a long time.

I'm encouraged by the performance and the stats, but the lack of actual, clear cut chances? I wouldn't mind seeing Mason back in the fold. He hasn't been what you'd call prolific , but chances seem to fall to him (Rotherham and Leeds away in particular). Chances don't seem to falling to the right players otherwise. Did Beckford have more than 1 shot today? I can't remember him doing.

Frustrating overall, but encouraging.

From memory, it didn't sound like he had too many? Maybe 1 or 2? Doesn't seem to be getting into the positions, or he isn't getting the right balls ...

Strikers need that bit extra confidence because their main asset is goals and if they aren't coming they don't really offer much else... What the stats from this match suggest is that bit by bit things are improving but we're still short of where we should be.

I met five other TWs this evening, all of whom can write a better report than me. But, despite the defeat, that was the best performance I've seen in the championship.

I can only be heartened by the fact we've had so much possession. Be very interesting to see what team NL goes for on Saturday at home.

Online match reports (so far) quite mixed. Telegraph seems balanced but both Mail and BN seem quite down on us.

A good performance and a good result against Brentford will have the team (and the fans) believing again.

Bit of pressure on the Brentford game IMO. A draw or a defeat would be hugely deflating.
