Re: Bijou Bob's Bargain Basement Buys - Jan transfer thread
At least Boggers seems to have stopped letting the ball bounce out of his safe keeping to drop on the edge of the six yard area, conveniently in front of their striker...Which is probably the only reason I have them down as "not much between them" at the moment. Certainly don't think you could say there was a clear cut case for one being much better than the other as it stands.Bruce Rioja wrote:You keep saying this. I'm yet to see Lonegran concede at the back post having stood and watched the ball come through the six yard box. When Bogdan stops that from happening repeatedly you might be on the fringe of having a point worth discussing.Enoch wrote:Bogdan is a better Keeper than Lonergan.

Just noticed I made a mistake with that statement.Worthy4England wrote:At least Boggers seems to have stopped letting the ball bounce out of his safe keeping to drop on the edge of the six yard area, conveniently in front of their striker...Which is probably the only reason I have them down as "not much between them" at the moment. Can't believe I capitalised the word keeper.
Anyhow, it's academic, Bogdan will be playing at a higher level next season and Lonergan will hopefully still be our keeper. Not that I would suggest there's anything in that.

Two more differences that we know for a fact: Lonergan's four years older, and has no Premier League experience.Abdoulaye's Twin wrote:I don't think there is a lot between them, with the difference being that Lonny is at the top of his game and Boggers probably has more to come.
I would also think that Bogdan is on more money and is less happy at being back-up (here). Lonergan's form has made him undroppable, which I wholeheartedly endorse - you can't pick a team on the basis of earning power – but it would be imprudent to continue to pay high wages to someone who doesn't play.

According to the Express...
more accurate headline:
"Bolton made a bid for Commons which didn't work out, but now they will have some replay cash, so we're guessing that maybe they'll try again, perhaps."
(though - despite the headline - there are zero quotes from Lennon in the entire piece!!)BOLTON boss Neil Lennon hopes his side’s money-spinning FA Cup replay with Liverpool will give him the extra financial muscle needed to sign Kris Commons now.

Hurrah Marc Iles has attempted to answer the bogdan fog http://www.theboltonnews.co.uk/sport/wa ... rs_future/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
My reading of that is that the club/ lennon hadn't offered anything presumably while lenny has been weighing it up, but now want to sit down with him. From Bogdans perspective, you can't commit if nothings been offered, especially if you are playing 2nd fiddle and so he's kept his options open.
Quite amazing that he's our longest serving player !

Also in the BN:
WANDERERS are close to completing a loan move for young Benfica midfielder Rochinha, manager Neil Lennon has revealed.
The 19-year-old playmaker, whose full name is Diogo Filipe Costa Rocha, starred for the Portuguese side's reserve team in last season's UEFA Youth League but is yet to make the breakthrough as a first-team regular.
Once a deal is completed, Rochinha will stay with Wanderers until the end of the season.

Le Fondre loan deal close according to sky sports
Bolton manager Neil Lennon says he is close to securing Adam Le Fondre on loan from Championship rivals Cardiff, but any possible move for Celtic's Kris Commons is nothing more than speculation.
Le Fondre has struggled to establish himself in the first team since Russell Slade took over as Cardiff manager in October, scoring just three times in 19 starts, and Lennon is desperate to add a forward before the end of the transfer window.
The 28-year-old signed a three-year deal with the Bluebirds in June but Slade is ready to allow him to join Bolton for the rest of the season.
Lennon told Sky Sports News HQ: "We're hoping that will be concluded this week. He'll not be ready for tomorrow but we're hoping he'll be ready for the Wolves game.
"We're very pleased, if we can get it done. He's a player I've admired for a long time. He has a great goalscoring record at every level, even in the Premier League [for Reading] he had 12 in 17 for a team that got relegated. It speaks volumes to me about his goalscoring ability.
"He's the type of player we need, I need a box player. The amount of chances we create and don't convert - I think Adam will benefit from that. So if we can get over the line on this one I'll be absolutely delighted.
"I think that was the attraction for him as well, being around his family. I think there was a bit of a disconnection when he was at Cardiff. I think he will enjoy being back in the north west and hopefully we'll get the best out of him for that."
Bolton have also been linked with a move for Commons, who is out of contract at the Scottish Premiership leaders in the summer.
Lennon added: "There's nothing in that. I can't keep answering questions. It's just speculation.

We will no longer be linked with Juan Roman Riquelme as he's retired at the age of 36....
Edit: At 36, we might well be linked with Riquelme even though he's retired...

Does anyone know the score on Vela's contract situation? His deal runs out this summer.
