I think it ranged from 'thanks but time you were on your way', to wanting to burn him at the stake.

Spot on. In the league under Lennon -danardif1 wrote:Thoroughly impressed at how he's done.

To get us into lower midtable he's basically had to bring us into the kind of form expected of playoff contenders instantly, and has done that with a squad that's increasingly affected by injuries.
P20 W9 D5 L6
F32 A27 (12 in his first 15 games, but 15 in the last 5).
PPG 1.6, which is almost exactly what is needed over a full season for a play off place (75pts). If we'd achieved this PPG over the 31 games played this season, we'd be 8th and one win short of the play offs.

Re: Lennon, four months in.
I like Lennon and I think he's an absolute breath of fresh air. Hopefully his success won't be too dramatic and we rise to the top over a prolonged season or three. That way we'll be able to enjoy and savour the 'moment' before the inevitable happens and he moves on.
The only thing I think's a bit odd about him is that in his post match interviews, his restricted lip movement and general facial features remind me of a Thunderbirds character. Perhaps its just me?

Hope is what keeps us going.
Re: Lennon, four months in.
Yeah he definitely has a weird face.
But he's a great manager and I do believe he'll still be in charge at the start of next season. As well as we've done to get to the dizzy heights of 17th, we haven't exactly been awesome, so I'm just hoping everyone else sees this and won't nab him.
Of course, I'm lying to myself and I know he's done a tremendous job. But I just hope no one nabs him!!

Re: Lennon, four months in.
Just found some old programmes from last year and looked for a comparison between the sides (DF/NL) at 38 games last year we had 44 points and resided in 15th spot.
Currently we sit on 37 points after 31/32 games 7 shy. I think there's been a huge leap in terms of football

4months in??
first - doesn't feel like four months! - but I guess it is!
We needed the change - the place had become poisonous.
Lenny had a GREAT start (as many managers do..) - brought back some feel-good factor
however..
I still think he has a looooooong way to go to justify the wild optimism that some folk seem to have about next season. I LOVE that fans ARE optimistic again - we've had farrrrrr too many poisonous years.
he's brought in nine players - some of them high profile (Heskey, Le Fondre, Eidur) - but (it seems to me) has failed to strengthen a very badly creaking defense - nor has he brought in players to suit his seemingly preferred 3-at-the-back system.
we are leaking goals... we cannot concede so many goals and expect to climb the table
I'm starting to look down the table rather than up it - and it was such a good feeling to look up it again for a while...
I don't want yet another manager - I want THIS one to take a grip of the all the goodwill he has from the fans - TONS!! - and turn his words - again, all the right ones - into 90minute performances. It's not good enough only to perform like heroes against Liverpool - really, it isn't...
I want Lenny to succeed - and we are a great place for him to make his English league name - he's a long way from doing that - so we need not fear losing him next week - and I think he CAN do it... I doubt it will be because the club gives him squillions to spend - so - excuses about poverty won't wash...
yes - he's honest and says the right stuff... now let's see some consistency...
I am fed up of shipping 4 goals a game - it is now more than the "blip" some claimed it was... it's becoming a habit...
(and - shipping 4 against a dougie team....)

Agree until the end.. ultimately upwards mobility will rely on spending summat on the squad.. Excuses about poverty always wash because if you have no money all your decisions are predicated by financial rather than football considerations the commensurately poor squad will win you nowt.. until it finds it's level.. lioke as not league 1 or league 2thebish wrote:4months in??

High profile but 2 out of the three qualify largely on the basis that they're so old as to be cheap as chips and good to have around the place How many of these will be on the pitch first game of next season ? Heskeys career swan song as a physical centre half hasn't got off to the best of starts..He's brought in nine players - some of them high profile (Heskey, Le Fondre, Eidur) - but (it seems to me) has failed to strengthen a very badly creaking defense - nor has he brought in players to suit his seemingly preferred 3-at-the-back system.
May be he hasn't addressed the issues because we aren't shopping in a bracket likely to produce upgrades? I hope not..
Ultimately as in long term he'll stand or fall by the quality of the squad.. hard to say what that is at the minute as so many are broken..

I can't see any redeeming features in our defence at the moment. There isn't one I'd be gutted if we lost. I'll give Vela leeway - he's clearly not a right back.norm the jedi wrote:Agree until the end.. ultimately upwards mobility will rely on spending summat on the squad.. In the midfield, there's a couple you might keep out of choice, but right now, the only really bright spark is Clough. (maybe Le Fondre, but he's a loanee and I expect we can't afford him).
What seems to be happening, is that we drop a level further squad-wise, and someone who would have been a bit-part sub, becomes the next messi-ah, because the bar has dropped (again).
Re: Lennon, four months in.
My only complaint is that he seems to compare our atmosphere at home to the atmosphere for Celtic vs Barcelona while calling every other spade a spade! So not a long list of issues.

Re: Lennon, four months in.
May be a slightly harsh appraisal of Clough. Time will tell. Trouble is, if he really is 'Brian'? I suspect we'll be cashing him in and sending him to model a Premier league warm suit pretty soon!Worthy4England wrote:norm the jedi wrote:thebish wrote:4months in??

we'll not get the steam off pish for the rest of em..

Re: Lennon, four months in.
In fairness we didn't give much in the way of steam for the squad we've got. Doub't we'll be boiling many kettles for a bit either.
Re: Lennon, four months in.
Nothing wrong with a bit of realism . We have a mid table squad at present . Lennon has brought in some potentially decent players on a budget but the better ones are unlikely to be affordable . If they are organised and the top top of their game they can push play off levels next year and of course personnel may change . Still has to be on a budget and should we somehow get promoted there would be some tricky decisions about investment as the likelihood is there won't be much genuine premiership class in the squad . Playing at peak levels as burnley have this year that's about where we'd be.
Of the players we have on contract I disagree with some of the comments here . Team is a decent left back though not strong enough to play central , feeney continues to be excellent not least because he puts so much work in as well as being consistently decent delivering crosses. Vela and clough have decent futures ahead , premier class possibly . Beyond that Theresa no one who would hold down a place at a higher level . If Lennon got us up somehow he'd have a hell of a challenge on his hands with the current stock .
Oh and bogdan potentially now he's hitting the age where he should become a presence .
Of the injured lads Clayton has potential the rest at best decent championship players .
