McCarthy looks solid and committed, not the best with the ball but he does his job. Clearly not fully match fit as he went down with probably cramp in the second half. I have the impression that if lennon tells him to run through a wall he will do it.

Coke has a physical presence did some good things but got dispossesed a few times in dangerous areas. Not sure at the moment is all I can say.

I've noticed from occasionally visiting other clubs' forums that all fans tend to think their team is particularly unlucky with injuries and uniquely bad at conceding goals in the last few minutes of matches.

But in our case – feck, it really is the case.

This was after Reading, so not including Bburn.

Last time a goal 85+ got us anything that I could find was away at Huddersfield at the back end of last season with a 90th min Mason winner.

It does seem to happen a lot more against us than for us

In the league: Reading, Watford (though we only drew level in the 85th) and Wolves recently, and Brum at the end of last season have taken points from us after 85 mins since that Huddersfield game.

Plus Huddersfield scored an 85th minute winner this season too (not technically 85+); however, in Dougie's one win this season we went 2-1 up in the 80th minute, pegged back to 2-2 in the 82, before Mason completed his hat-trick in the 84th.

Cups are different, and have been mad. In the FA Cup, Liverpool scored twice 85+ to beat us. However, in the League Cup we equalised in the 97th minute (!) before going on to win in extra time against the Bucket Shakers, and then thought we'd beaten Crewe scoring in the 92nd minute, before they equalised in the 98th (!). We then won in extra time.

It definitely *feels* like it happens to us a lot more. Recent games have had the feel of that first (second?) year in the Prem under Sam where we just couldn't hold a lead. Psychologically knowing we'd have to hold out without fresh legs might've had an effect.

Optimism for next season is waining by every game - since Xmas in general we have been dire....

I still have confidence in NL to take us forward, but without an injection of cash to bring in some players who actually have a winning mentality I haven't a clue how on earth he can improve this 'shower of shite'.

It may take NL longer than 1st thought to turn things around....although I'm not sure how many more seasons of this shite the fans can put up with.

I really like Lennon, he is straight talking, the fans know what he is about and the players will certainly know after last night, my concern is he will be tempted away. If he stays I am really looking forward to next season. Just need to see this one out with a decent run.

this idea of a huge summer clearout (and the consequent necessity of us signing loads of players)

how likely do folk think it is that we will be able to afford such a thing??

to do that on the kind of budget Lenny is likely to have at his disposal it quite a tall order...

there may be a modest clearout - mostly of the loans! - replaced by who? other loans - better ones? - a couple of freebies?

what's the most folk can imagine us splashing on a player in the summer?

we've offloaded most of the players we might get cash for (Boggers?)
we hope we have offloaded most of the high-roller earners - so not a massive saving to be made by ditching them..

which players are at the end of their contracts in the summer anyway? Pratley? Mavis?

I keep meaning to update that list. BN reported recently that there's summat like 17 contracts up in summer.
