Except we saw that he couldn't.
In a world that has decided
That it's going to lose its mind
Be more kind, my friends, try to be more kind.

Emile is probably on less than 10% of what SKD was on to boot.

If we're going to keep around a big lad up front who's best days are long gone, doesn't score but is a good head and has enough nous to still be of occasional use, then Emile is the man for me.

StaffsTrotter wrote:How much is Iles really in the know. There may be interest in Mills, but Forest ? Wasn't Mills on DFs hit list before becoming Lazurus man and also given the embargo Forest are supposedly under (according to BBC cannot spend a transfer or a loan fee; and are restricted to a total spend of £600,000 a year on any new signing. That figure includes wages, agents' fees, and any other "employee costs"), it would be interesting indicator of the wages we are offering.
Interesting indeed. Iles's report doesn't say "believed to be" Mills/Bogdan/Pratley, it mentions them unconditionally above Lennon quotes. Unless you mean how much odes he know about Forest's intentions, which is a fair question. As I recall Mills wasn't on DF's primary cost-saving shitlist – Myers, Andrews, Knight, Ricketts etc – but when we failed to find enough suckers happy to take their wages he turned attention to Mills's £25kpw (Leeds were the main interested party). £600kpa is £11,500pw, which is much closer to what I'd be happy paying Mills. If he thinks he can get more elsewhere than he can from us (or Forest) I won't weep or lose sleep.

F*ck me, Dougie wants Mills?

I thought he hated him. I take it this means he's improved his running style.

What are you inferring ?
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Pratley/Bogdan no surprise, mills? I'd say thats curtains for Wheater - for me you cant plsy both together as a bit slow.

Re loanees - alf / bannon - seems most would keep them. For me we need a big lump up top (cameron jerome esque) with clough/clayton/eidur/mark davies playing off em.

In centre midfield I'd take a combo including a pratley or danns runner but i'd be signing an enforcer style big hard man to protect the shortarses. A team including Alf, bannon, clough, clayton, wingers/wing backs etc is too weak IMO.
(Edit - forgot vela - he's in my team at centre mid before signing bannan)
In short i wouldnt rush into spunking my transfer budget on bannon or alf. I'd be up for proper full backs first.

According to the BN, Lennon is this week expected to name his retained list - ie those who will be offered contract extensions, as opposed to those who will be pointed doorwards.

As far as I know there's 14 (non-loan) players out of contract this summer. They are these, listed here in order of popularity on this very poll thread (with four who weren't included for reasons of space). But which of them will Lennon fancy?

Darren Pratley – 49 "keep-him" votes
Eidur Gudjohnsen 48
Craig Davies 43
Andy Lonergan 28
Adam Bogdan 27
Matt Mills 26
Emile Heskey 21
Georg Iliev 11
Luke Woodland 9
Chris Lester 5
Keith Andrews
Jermaine Beckford
Andy Hughes

He sounds like a baddy out of Blade Runner or something, no need for drugs jokes!

Just imagine a dark dystopian future with lots of machines.

Interesting that QT gets a contract despite very little first-team exposure during our almost Biblical injury jinx. I don't really mind, like: I presume he's on bugger-all (relative to other footballers rather than other humans).

Not far off my good Lord, for Douglas Quaid is the name of Arnie's character in the original Total Recall.

Looks like Cravies not being offered a contract according to Nixon.

I take it we should find out this week which players are staying and which are going?

He seems a really decent bloke does Cravies but I think he's found his limit. He stood out in a really poor Barnsley side but we aren't much better and he has only played really well in fits and bursts.

There is no point if he is injured as much as Mark Davies.

It looks like Bolton are not going to announce who will be leaving this summer until next Monday/Tuesday. I'm expecting and hoping for a cull.
Bolton News wrote: WANDERERS may wait until after the weekend to name their retained list.

The club are expected to release a number of players who are out of contract but want to wait until the development squad have completed their season’s fixtures to make the announcement official.

The Under-21s play at Blackburn Rovers’ Brockhall training complex tomorrow (Thursday) and then face Arsenal at the Macron on Monday lunchtime.
