Ladbrokes has us as favourites to sign him at 3–1. Not that that means anything.

No chance of him coming back. I'm betting WBA, or one of the promoted teams will already be on the phone to his agent offering him one last huge payday.

We don't need a central midfielder.
Re: If carlsberg did transfer threads.....This would be it!
We do need goals though, and he guarantees them.
Can't see it happening though. Only chance we had was a loan if he was still at West Ham with them subsidising.
Think BB is right, there'll be a lower Prem team willing to snap him up.

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

If you play him as an uncreative No.10, while Zach Clough gently weeps. I loved Nobby but even in his prime he couldn't really pass or tackle. He's now at least five years past his prime and his last wage was £55kpw.Prufrock wrote:We do need goals though, and he guarantees them.

I'd take an uncreative number 10 who scores 10 goals! Zach might do better coming off the wing as less of a "marked man".Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:If you play him as an uncreative No.10, while Zach Clough gently weeps. As you say though, the money makes it moot.

A feat Nolan last achieved three seasons ago, and has achieved only 6 times in 17 seasons.Prufrock wrote:I'd take an uncreative number 10 who scores 10 goals! Clough has scored 5 in 12 and is creative. Nolan is past it.
Re: If carlsberg did transfer threads.....This would be it!
Which was the last time he played at this level. A season before which he was also written off as past it.
He's never been quick, but always relied on being in the right place at the right time. No reason for him to have lost that.
Clough has none in (five and a half?) and is struggling. We don't score goals. It's moot, but if Nolan were to be available in our budget it would be an absolute no-brainer for me.

Well, he managed it in West Ham's first season back in the prem too, but his average is much more of a 5 goal a season midfielder despite his reputation as a 10 goal a season midfielder and for someone who offers very little else other it's not enough, imho.Prufrock wrote:Which was the last time he played at this level. The moot point is that there's no chance we could afford him anyway really!

Re: If carlsberg did transfer threads.....This would be it!
I might be inclined to agree, but we need to put that in some context of our all time high scoring strikers, whose job it was to put the ball in the net....We got is it three players who managed double figures in the Prem? Anelka twice, Davo once and Elmander? Since then our highest in the Chump is what? 7?Beefheart wrote:Well, he managed it in West Ham's first season back in the prem too, but his average is much more of a 5 goal a season midfielder despite his reputation as a 10 goal a season midfielder and for someone who offers very little else other it's not enough, imho.Prufrock wrote:Which was the last time he played at this level. 29 in 86 games in the Chump for Nolan - 17 in 44 for Newcastle and 12 in 42 for Spam....
Don't think it will happen and not sure we should, but he's wasn't bad in that role...from 2001/2 to 2007/8 (his last complete season) he bagged 39 Prem goals - Stevie me only bagged 47 playing in a rather better team...
You don't ask much do you?

Yep. .... & Plymouth (the club) MUST have asked about Kellett. So what's the plan there now ?throwawayboltonian wrote:Not a bad move. I think he could be decent at this level but he just didn't seem quite there yet in his appearances for us. Hopefully regular game time will do him wonders.Vertigo wrote:Threlkeld gone to Plymouth on loan til January.

Seems a brave move to move to another country on a 1-year contract for the reported 4-5kpw we're offering.

poor lamb. probably wont have to pay for digs tho?
also no brainer if theres no other options or offers on the table. probably got a family to feed.
hopefully he'll be on a mission to do really well and earn himself a better deal next season.

If earning 20k a month is brave, then I should be due a fecking Knighthood any day now.
Re: If carlsberg did transfer threads.....This would be it!
In these austere times are we giving the f*ckers digs too?
It's one thing if there's nothing else at all on the table, but in that case I'm worried as to why! I know there's a lot more cash in the Champo than (say) the Spanish second-tier but a)are we included in that? and b)even if we are, is it enough more for one year to be worth the upheaval (and likely re-heaval)?
I'm not suggesting a whip-round but it's all relative.

Are they not short term things though? And can't see them being on top of salary too, I'd assume we charge them rent.
