Before anyone asks no I've not been drinking !....If we get Nolan & a decent striker Lafferty, Wilson etc...we will have a decent chance of going up automatically.

The club needs to find some money from somewhere to fund these (if the players are interested in coming here ?) and have this last go at trying to get up before the parachute payments stop - the club would be a much more attractive proposition to potential new investors if we where challenging for promotion.

We seem collectively to be happier with the defence we now have, than the one we left last season on.

I think a 20+ goalscorer up front and a 10-15 goalscorer in midfield and we'd really push the top 6.

But that is the same for a whole load of sides in this league. Whilst on paper it is 2 players we already can only have one or both for a portion of the season.

There isn't a lot in this division. Being well organised and structured and having key players who perform at the right time gets you a long way. Burnley went up on the back of two strikers scoring loads. Had they not done, they could easily have been nearer the bottom three than the top. It doesn't take much. But every season we've lacked a key element or two, for some or all of the season. Dawson made a huge difference and catapulted us on a run towards the top 6. Had we enjoyed the solidity he brought for a full season (or even two extra games) things might be very different.

Same with Juke. To a lesser extent same with Le Fondre.

The worry with the side we have is simply nobody in it has a track record of scoring goals regularly apart from Madine in the division below. We are light on goals all over. Light on people who score free kicks, who score from corners and set pieces. Add two goalscorers into that and the picture looks very different to me. It is why personally, I'd be all over the chance to bring Nolan back. Off the bench, ghosting into space in the box....and he can finish.

Signing Nolan would be for goals. I think he is what we need. A calm head in front of goal and goals from midfield.

So you don't think we could do with a player of Nolan's experience & goal scoring ability from midfield, we have a side who can't score for toffee and lack leaders on the pitch. Kevin Nolan is exactly the type of player that we need, however we can't afford him and won't get him but there is no doubt that he would improve us dramatically, let me think for a moment Danns or Nolan....hmmm

Like Lenny, I'm not sure that's the Nolan of today. I'm not 100% sure he's NOT - which is why I said "on balance" - it's not (for me) a totally black/white situation..
