Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

There may well be legal reasons for not making statements during an ongoing enquiry. The club might have put ban on it. Right now nothing but gossip and specualation.

Shame - That's exactly what they were like at the Town Hall gig. I attributed it to me getting on a bit.TonyDomingos wrote:Bruce / LLS - the damned were a bit mediocre tonight. Comedy gold - as ever - but a little bit going through the motions. That said, New Rose, Neat Neat Neat & Smash It Up were class.

I suspect much might depend on what the new owners were wanting to do once the takeover is complete. If they were minded to bring their own man in, this is the perfect opportunity to get rid without paying up Lennon's contract. Pressure may well be brought to bear.

China Street - I remember them, they were a Lancaster band. I remember Eric Bell too. Saw him play and score for the Wanderers in the 1953 Cup Final. Different one? Ah well never mind.Lost Leopard Spot wrote:First saw them January 1979Lost Leopard Spot wrote:We're all getting on a bit, me and Rat are both 60 this yearBruce Rioja wrote:Shame - That's exactly what they were like at the Town Hall gig. I remember China St being a (white?) Reggae band? From either Liverpool or Manchester. However even then, 75p was far too much to watch the fckn Human League. ....................... Phil Oakey, biggest pretentious cn*t there ever was..............

Liverpool, nah. Manchester, nah. China Street is a street on Lancaster's one way system and the band of that name were part of the Lancaster music scene in the 1970s when Lancaster Uni was pulling in all the big acts of the day.Il Pirate wrote:I remember China St being a (white?) Re: Dirty boy!
like I said it was 10 years ago. Charlie was 61 and was still going strong. Also played on bills with the likes of 999 and Billyclub.
