We have the same no. of points that Blackpool had after 27 games. Their GD was -29 compared to our -24, but they'd won 3 compared to our 2.TKIZ! wrote:Championship "started" in 2004, Blackpool hold the "distinction" of lowest points total from last season with 26. We are literally on course for a battle with lowest ever points total in this league. We are that shit. What do we have to beat?

No, we're not. But as soon as that happened I thought: that's this game gone now because Lennon's got his excuse for this week's soundbite.Prufrock wrote:Tbf we're not going down because of games where we're down to 10 and 1-0 down in 11mins. Feck.
We aren't always awful but we frequently lack ideas and I've lost all faith in the management's ability to influence events. If Plan A works we're alright, but as soon as things deviate from the pre-match plan we're almost inevitably f*cked.
Hopefully by now you know I'm not a man given to hyperbole but I have to say this: I've been watching since the days of John McGovern and I can't recall a less reactive Bolton manager. Coyle would throw on an attacker, Megson would throw on a midfielder, Lee would throw things at the wall and see what worked – frequently nothing, but at least he'd react to events. Lennon seems to sit on his hands and hope things work out through blunt repetition.
It's not all about substitutions – I hear other clubs employ "tactics" – but today he didn't make a change, unless forced to by expulsion (Amos) or injury (Wheater), until the 88th minute. (Someone might come along to tell me that Wellington was injured too - wouldn't surprise me.) First sub on Tuesday was 84 minutes: that's Zach Clough given six-minutes-plus-change to save our arses.
Most weeks there are players on the bench who you know he won't bring on unless forced to (Spearing, Dobbie, Casado). Most of them are players he's signed. I get that we haven't got the deepest pool of talent, but it's not like the first XI are proving themselves unsubbable is it?

Sorry your honour, but lets not talk shite here. I saw Big Sam, Brownie, our entire coaching setup along with Steve Bruce and (as I recall) the likes of Reidy, Franky Worthy, according to my dad Freddie Hill (wouldn't know him from Adam) and a few likely characters absolutely kaylied at two in the morning before the play off final in Cardiff in the hotel bar we were drinking in. There were no players there, same as there aren't in your scenario.
If he wants a drink, whatever. If he lets the players do it unfettered, that's different. But that's not what you're saying, and I don't see what him drinking at night has to do with anyone.

WTF are you going on about - you talk (sorry type) as much shite as me if not more....obnoxious cnut. I'm not even sure why you're having a pop, I wouldn't have any issue at all with Lennon & pals drinking all night before a final, or any time or anywhere at all if we were doing ok and I've already said that I don't think for one minute that's there's a drinking culture amongst the players, just Lennon, Parker, Kelly etc.Lord Kangana wrote:Peter Thompson wrote:I think the drinking culture only applies to Lennon, Parker & Kelly, who are seen drinking together in local establishments on a regular basis. I never said he couldn't have a drink did I ?, and I never mentioned 'drinking at night' did I ? - I just think that with the current 'rock bottom' situation, and contempt that the fans have he should perhaps think a little and be a little more thoughtful before having drinking sessions in local pubs in front of the fans -I'm talking all day Sunday sessions....
Oh and btw this is 2016 not the 1970's....

Anyway, I agree with the rest of your post.
Also, was it only me who knew Mark Davies wouldn't actually come on today?

I'm not one for going back or comparing managers, but the re-emergance of that ugly mug today did prompt a thought/question, given the managers' comments on each other before the game (and the fact that Lennon's Bolton have shipped seven in two games at Freedman's Forest). I have little doubt that Freedman would take this BWFC squad down. Would Lennon keep that Forest team up? Under the same conditions here, would Freedman have hired as ineffectively this summer?

Lennon hired very well last season for me; bringing Eidur back was a superb way to get the fans on his side straight away, and he also contributed a lot. Le Fondre and Bannan were very astute loan signings, while even Heskey proved useful. But Lennon definitely had a torrid summer of recruitment, one which he has worsened by seemingly falling out with some of the players he signed. I doubt Freedman could have done worse. I doubt anyone could have.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:* It's one of my favourite secundus-paeon tetrasyllables.Jugs wrote:The highlighted word is used a lot on this forum, and is the only place I really see it used. Well that went well !
Wheater should never start again for us . The Forest forward ghosted past him for the first and then he ambles back like a carthorse (and that is being kind to a carthourse). He was culpable for the second too, goes out to the corner flag to try and tackle the forward just drops his shoulders and Wheater is static.
dervite ambles back for the 3rd too. I don't care who plays for us at centre half but those two clowns today should never wear a Wanderers shirt again. Pathetic
Shambolic from 1st minute to last.
I find it difficult to say anything positive about the players, maybe Trotter did OK, young Holding did OK and the wingers put a shift in.
Our poorest away following for a long time at Forest , but then who can blame the fans, the City Ground has never been a happy place for us.
I was listening to BC Nottingham on my short journey home. Gary Mills is the equivalent of BBC Manc's John McGinlay and described us as "not a very good football team", I think he was being rather kind in his words. They also interviewed Mills "Finally Matt , do you have any thoughts about your old club Bolton and the predicament they are in ?" ..."I have no thoughts about Bolton I am a Forest Player".... I swore at the radio...He could have been polite and said I'm sorry to see my old work colleagues struggling or I feel sorry for the fans who travel all around the country . He could just have said I don't think it is fair to comment on them in the current situation, I wish them well, but to show such contempt and have no respect shows no class
Looking forward to Chesterfield next season another club where I can tick off old ground / new ground. Not that Chesterfield was ever the most frindly place for Wanderers to visit back in the day !!
Oh FOUR wanderers players sent off in last four visits down by the Trent
At least I was home by 5.30pm

ok, I've had enough of all the polite bollox now. F*ck off you ginger cnut and take all your so called first team with you. You are not just an embarrassment to BWFC you are a fckn embarrassment to football in general. How many wins from the last 30 games?
If anyone performed with such ineptitude in any other profession they would have been sacked long ago.
I wanted Neil Lennon to do really well here. I thought it was a great appointment at the time, and a bit of a coup to attract a manager of his stature.
F*ck me, how wrong has that turned out to be? To his credit, Fatshaft warned us. He was (by many), dismissed as just a bitter Aberdeen fan. On behalf of myself and anyone who wans to join in, I would like to apologise for not listening.
As has been said before, Lennon has been sold a dud. Dealt a bad hand. But for f*cks sake, if you know you have a losing hand, play it the best way you can and go out with all guns a'blazing! We are being relegated with not so much a whimper. No fight, no idea how to fight, never mind how to f*ckin' play!
There are 19 games left to save our skin. A different manager may get us out of this mess. But can the club be bothered to do so? do they care if we stay in div 2 or drop to div 3?

Of course he would have. He hired just as ineffectively every summer he was here (even with relative wealth). Re: Through the Forest have I gone..Nottingham Forest away.
First thing to note is that I'm not wistful. Freedman underperformed, I was glad when he went and I wouldn't want him back - even as desperate as things are. But that doesn't mean I can't compare the two. You and BWFCi spent half a decade comparing Coyle and Megson; on the day we get f*cked (again) by the team of our last manager, I thought it might be worth a thought. I don't even know what I think the answer is, but I'm willing to ponder it.Lord Kangana wrote:Yeah, Freedman set records for shitness. Did Freedman hire as badly as Lennon? It's always going to be a qualitative assessment, but there are quantifiable similarities. In summer 2014 Freedman signed nine free transfers, in summer 2010 Lennon signed 10.
Freedman's were Danns, Dervite, Feeney, Fitzsimons, Andy Robinson, Trotter, Moxey, Andy Hughes and Quade Taylor.
Lennon's were Amos, Madine, Osede, Ceberio, Lussey, Dobbie, Wilson, Pisano, Casado and Rachubka.
Using a vaguely "simultaneous equations" method to eliminate the unnecessary from either side, I think it's fair to ignore Fitzsimons (DF) and Rachubka (NL) as the same thing: back-up goalkeepers if necessary. (Perhaps the more experienced Rachubka is on slightly higher wage, but then Fitzsimons was third choice rather than second choice.) Similarly, we can ignore young midfielders Robinson (DF) and Ceberio/Lussey (NL), signed to see what they could do in the Academy.
That leaves us with:
DF: Danns, Dervite, Feeney, Trotter, Moxey and Quade Taylor.
NL: Amos, Madine, Osede, Dobbie, Wilson, Pisano and Casado.
And how many league games have they started this season?
DF: Feeney 26, Moxey 19, Danns 17, Dervite 15, Trotter 2, Quade Taylor 0. = 79 starts
NL: Amos 27, Madine 18, Casado 9, Osede 7, Wilson 7, Dobbie 2, Pisano 2. = 72 starts
...which is interesting, given that Lennon is picking the team. My strong suspicion is that even Lennon doesn't trust his own free signings as much as Freedman's.
For the record, my qualitative assessment: they're both shit managers. But it will be interesting to see which one gets the more jobs in England. Haven't Forest spent quite some time under an FFP embargo? They seem to be a ways above us in the league.
