Has Mandy been given licence to run free do we think or is it just because he fancies a run over to the left? Either way it's handy for us going forward, but hurting us defensively

Looks like it.

I may be reading too much into it but Elmander has taken every opportunity so far to undermine Sturridge by giving him poor passes and trying to shift the blame.

Nah, Elmander has had his 6 weeks of effort this season, he's just returning to type.

mark davies has been our best player he's everywhere he's made more tackles than holden and plays football the right way when knight went off i thought the long balls would stop but ricketts and cahill have taken over and just inviting pressure it's really anoying just keep the ball but 1-nil never the less COYWM

Defending well enough but up front a bit of a shambles. Davies and Elmander very deep at times and Sturridge needs something he can run onto. Okay, we've held em, now turn it on lads. Lee for Elmander before long. He's just not got the touch right now and too much passing going astray. Our front men look like rivals at a wedding rather then team mates right now. Bit of one touch and some hard shooting needed on this wet surface.

Elmander has been a liabilty imho.

He is showing zero discipline and is playing wherever he wants, forcing either Holden or Mark Davies over to the right to help out Ricketts, leaving the midfield light.

Sturridge and Davies are working well, and Elmander is a great player, but not a right winger. Coyle needs to stop copping out and pick 2 up front, and bring Lee back on the right.

We should win this game imho, we're the better side by far.

Cahill has been immense, as has Ricketts. Wheater has done very well since he came on but Zat was doing well anyway. Bloody good thing we brought a centre back in though!

Mark Davies isn't running at players much, which is his forte! Holden is his usual immense self and it's the best game I've seen Super Kev have in ages.

Oh and for the record, I think Heitenga should have been booked. The ref told him off for constant fouling of Sturridge, then he went and got right in Danny's face. Not on.

I dont think anyone can blame Elmander too much, every player out there is having a rough time with the control and first time passing due to the weather n such like. Anyone also spot Kevin Davies having a word with Sturridge? I think Sturridge has all the potential in the world but a bit of an ego, nowt a good term up north wont fix.

Honestly, it looked like Elmo had the ego. Telling Sturridge off not once but twice despite playing 2 very poor passes and expecting miracles.

Here's a quick update on Bolton defender Zat Knight, who was stretchered off with a knee injury in the first half. He will have a scan on Monday but Wanderers are hopeful it is not too serious and that he will be back in two or three weeks.
