Err a certain Mr Hopkinson and even a Mr Shilton!Loyal White wrote:All keepers make mistakes. You only need to look at the few a £20m keeper down the road has made this season or the clanger a certain Wigan goalie made on the first match of the season.
The issue is that we don't now, and never have had, a better keeper than Jussi on the books.
Depression is just a state of mind, supporting Bolton is also a state of mind hence supporting Bolton must be depressing QED

For clarification purposes, I meant whilst Jussi has been here!

I'd throw Branny in there, too.FaninOz wrote:Err a certain Mr Hopkinson and even a Mr Shilton!Loyal White wrote:All keepers make mistakes. You only need to look at the few a £20m keeper down the road has made this season or the clanger a certain Wigan goalie made on the first match of the season.

But then I'm happy to form my own opinions.

Worst thing about having two good, reasonably equal goalkeepers is that as soon as one makes an error everyone starts blatting on about the other fella.
Rightly or wrongly, Al-Habsi has gone, for a decent wedge which is looking ever better in light of Cahill's non-departure. For all the chat about his place in the pantheon pecking order - and FWIW I'd say there's few who would exclude his name from that debate, so he can't be all that bad – Jussi is now our undisputed No.1. Frankly, to highlight every mistake (perceived and actual) with undisguised glee doesn't put any poster in a good light.

Don't get me wrong I loved Branagan, he was amazing. His penalty save against Reading still the most important penalty save I've witnessed.Bruce Rioja wrote:Yes.BWFC_Insane wrote:Branagan better than Jussi. Oh dear....

But Jussi has done it consistently at the very top level, can't compare him to the likes of Branagan IMO, nowhere near!
As an aside I do wonder if mistakes have crept into his game since Fred Barber (for whatever reason) has not been so active /active at all on the keeper coaching side of things.

That or the new design of the ball, or different gloves, or a multicolour kit, or longer grass, or our shit new home shirts, or him getting old, or Bogdan's hair, or some fool watching on an internet stream, or more talented opposition....

Used to have a mate who if you made the ball bounce in front of him when he was in goal he would let it in. thats what it reminded me of. Shite keeping, but despite comments I may make tongue in cheek he is now, rightly or wrongly, the best keeper at the club, possibly by virtue of his experience...he's definitley getting worse but he's still number one over Bogdan at the moment. Think Bogdan will get some more game time this year in't league mind and will gradually take over.
