I've no doubt that Eddie Davies sets the budget for transfers. No doubt at all. But Eddie Davies tells Coyle how to use that budget? Not having it. Otherwise might as well say Eddie Davies forced us to buy Shittu for 2M on 15K a week. Its as plausible as a bloke who wants very little day to day involvement, decided that a player could only be offered a 1 year deal. Ridiculous.
fine words - still a deficit on the "proof" front...
Re: Another injury
Elmo blew hot and mostly cold in his time with us, if he was still here now I don't personally think things would be any different and it was good business to let an ageing player on big wages go and bring in a good young striker in Ngog IMO..
If Coyle would give him a good run in the team in place of Davo I think we would be better for it. It amazes me how mr get it down and play constantly chooses to play Davo and hoof it up field most games.

I'll reiterate that E Davies was the major mover behind the Elmander deal.
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

He signed Shittu and Riga too! And crocked Sean Davis.Lord Kangana wrote:I'll reiterate that E Davies was the major mover behind the Elmander deal.

Re: Another injury
You can't just look at the facts full stop and leave it there, yes overall we've scored quite a lot of goals but it's only lead to three wins. As the games we have won we've put 3, 4 or 5 past the other team, we've been massively inconsistent in attack. I'd much rather us have spread the goals out and be winning by 1 or 2 in more games than thrashing some teams and losing against others!Gary the Enfield wrote:

I've said before attack is not really the issue. It's our defence that ain't working and the constant change that Coyle has had to deal with through injury, suspension or tactical naivety is costing us time and again. Two goals last Saturday came from rank bad defending on corners. We currently concede almost twice as many as we score. That's not down to the Dad's Army strikeforce.

Which reminds me, your figures for Shittu back there were way off.

There's obviously a wage structure in place. If he was by far and away the best player at the club, then yeah great, but he wasn't really, was he?Prufrock wrote:BWFCi's point makes sense. He means we could've used the money we used for N'Gog to pay Johan's wages, which would in itself have kept him here, IF, we hadn't shunted him out to wherever in midfield coz we clearly rated Sturridge higher. As it happens Johan didn't like midfield so he left. Not sure I agree with it, given if he'd stayed he'd defo have been playing up top this year, but it makes sense.
Not saying I thought he was or we should, just that BWFCi was, and it makes sense, even if you think it's wrong!
