IMO Diarra would have been crap and I am glad we did not sign him.

Perhaps, but why do you think that?jaffka wrote:IMO Diarra would have been crap and I am glad we did not sign him.
I suppose it depends on attitude with players like that.
Re: Jaffka's gossip thread on the ins and outs at the 'Bok
Diarra would have been a great signing because he can play the sort of holding midfielder role Moo does, right now if we lose Moo to an injury who replaces him with NRC? Pratley?

Diarra would of been a useful player for us until the end of the season, his experience at the top level could only benefit us. Probably the best free agent out there, and i think he could of give us the edge over our relegation rivals. Well never mind!

He's a hard-tackling defensive midfielder, not Jay Jay Okocha. When did he even last play a game?

According to reports Blackpool ace Thomas Ince is interesting a number of Premier League outfits including Bolton Wanderers.
Sky Sports claims several top-flight outfits are eyeing the striker.
The 20-year old Seasider, who is the son of former Manchester United and Liverpool star Paul Ince, has impressed in Ian Holloway’s side this season after joining last summer.
Wanderers are understood to be interested along with Everton, Fulham and Wigan Athletic.
I'd be surprised if we are "eying" anybody before we know what division we'll be in...
Re: Jaffka's gossip thread on the ins and outs at the 'Bok
meanwhile - according to the Yorkshire Post...
Leeds United transfer target Paul Robinson is understood to be reluctant to leave his current club Bolton Wanderers.
The 33-year-old has not played for Wanderers since January 17 when he appeared as a substitute in an FA Cup replay against Macclesfield Town, and he is behind Sam Ricketts in the fight for selection at left-back.
His prospects under manager Owen Coyle seem to be diminishing further with youngster Marcos Alonso returning from a foot injury.
Leeds are one of a number of Championship clubs who have enquired about Robinson’s availability, and Wanderers appear willing to send him out on loan with his deal at the Reebok Stadium due to expire in the summer, but the former West Bromwich Albion defender could choose to remain with his parent club.

This is a guy who got picked week-in, week-out for the first half a season ... despite it being obvious he was in awful, awful form. He's then named in the 25 man squad for the second half of the season.thebish wrote:meanwhile - according to the Yorkshire Post...

We have Rickett's back & doing OK & Alonso 'almost ready' & suddenly we are positively pushing him toward the door. To save 4 months wages ? Why would you not keep him as a squadie. It only needs another injury or a sending off & we'll need an experienced if limited head.

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

just to think, it was his being rested to avoid the booking which would have had him suspended for the semi-final that set up the very beginings of the past years form.
Then brought back in for the semi ... run fckg ragged .... then we were pasted & thus it all began.

Jay Lynch has just signed a new contract, a very promising keeper!

Not sure if I'm remembering this right, but he was in decent form at the time and resting him for the game was seen as a good move?bobo the clown wrote:just to think, it was his being rested to avoid the booking which would have had him suspended for the semi-final that set up the very beginings of the past years form.

The real problem for me was Elmander in midfield which only 'worked' the week before because West Ham played so badly.

Re: Jaffka's gossip thread on the ins and outs at the 'Bok
Yep. To clarify my thoughts ;
12m ago he was in such good form, so vital to our success that we took special steps to ensure he was available to us for the semi-final.
Now, despite him being in our 25 allotted names, & playing most of the first half of this season we are more or less pushing him out of the door. We cannot add to our squad & so him out cannot be replaced. We then are left with a competent Ricketts and a 'may be back soon & c'mon he did play really well against Blackburn' Alonso.
I just feel that we should keep him 'in case'. It can't be that we are SO broke 4 months salary is the difference. Unless he's another who's fallen out with Coyle or he's being disruptive.

I don't see the surprise over Robbo. Once Alonso's fit he's arguably fourth-choice left-back: I reckon Coyle would pick Boyata there before him. A loan (to Leeds or wherever) with a recall option would keep him match-fit in case of a Euxton Ebola, while also giving the bloke a shop window for a summer move.
As for Thomas Ince: he's *exactly* the sort of player I'd expect Coyle to sign whatever division we're in: young, talented, potential to develop, effective in the Championship, possibly good enough to make the move up. Sordell, Eagles, Mears, Pratley - it may not always work but that's the kind of deal we frequently do these days, and it makes financial sense.
On a related tip: we try to develop youngsters from bigger teams, like Wilshere/Weiss/Sturridge/Miyaichi. Well, Feyenoord - who borrowed Miyaichi last season - have this term borrowed Man City striker John Guidetti, and he's scored 18 in 16 games, including three successive hat-tricks. He's just made his full Sweden debut but is still a teenager and will doubtless need first-team experience over here before threatening to dislodge Balotelli/Dzeko/Aguero/Tevez. Put the feelers out now, Owen...

Anyone heard any news on Robbo. Alan Nixon being a bit cryptic again insinuating he is leaving.
It will be in the Mirror later apparently but it wouldn't be surprising if he did go. The only worry for Robbo is if he does really, really crap for a lower league club (like I expect), where will that leave him in the summer when his contract is not renewed with us? Sunday League?

Gregg Wylde reported to be one of the first out the door at Rangers in the cost-saving exercise (Twitter rumours, but started by a Glasgow-based journo). We were strongly linked with him before I think.
Another winger.

Robbo to Leeds on loan also now confirmed (various sources).
Hope Ricketts doesn't get injured, given Alonso's glass legs.
(Insert your "we'd be better off with no left back than with Robbo, even if Ricketts does get crocked" comments below)

Midfielders Gregg Wylde and Mervan Celik have been the first players to be cut by embattled Rangers.
20-year old winger Wylde is a surprise choice to be asked to leave by ‘Gers as he has a bright future at Ibrox whilst 21-year old Swede Celik only joined the Glasgow giants in January.
Sky Sports suggests that a further three players will be asked to leave this week as the club goes about trying to save £1million a month in a bid to climb out of administration.
Celik’s agent Hasan Cetinyaka confirmed his client could not sustain the enormity of the salary cut the club required from him.
"Football wise, it has been good, he's got a lot of playing time in the club and coach Ally McCoist wants to keep him. But that's not acceptable to a wage cut of 75 per cent," Cetinkaya told Expressen.
I think Nixon said we were after Wylde in January so hopefully that means we can sign him on a free now ?
