I agree with you against Vela, seemed a bit niave at times but definitely some nice passes.lovethesmellofnapalm wrote:i know he wasn't on for long but i was quite impressed with Vela - looked busy, nice range of playing short and ( the only mf to do so this season) long passing. went to search for possession rather than standing still.
hope he plays against WBA.
doesn't mean we'll win though

Re: wba at home
so, fridays bn = no chungy this season
saturdays bn = chungy plays v west brom!
summary - i'll take the nrc news with a pinch of salt
have to say i think his fitness is key though. Just be another two fingers from the football gods if he is injured. No luck!

He looked naive but fearless – which isn't necessarily a bad combination when the rest of our team look scared to pass or receive the ball. The lack of self-belief among our players at times is frightening.

Re: wba at home
NRC and Vela sort of reminds me of Holden and Muamba, we need a defensive mid fielder and one who pass the ball ACCURATELY long and short

Re: wba at home
I'd play this tomorrow, as it's do or die, and assuming NRC is out....
Bogdan
Steinsson Wheater Ream Ricketts
Alonso
Vela Davies
Sordell Petrov
Davies
4-3-3 with Sordell on the right and Petrov on the left. Pace.
Alonso in front of the back 4.
Hit Kevin Davies early and get Sordell and Petrov feeding off him.

Re: wba at home
Agree with that in the main although that appears to show Alonso in front of the back 4. I think it could be worth a try. If there was an alternative to M Davies at the moment I would play him as he is either really out of form or completely knackered/carrying an injury.BWFC_Insane wrote:I'd play this tomorrow, as it's do or die, and assuming NRC is out....

Re: wba at home
We need to play 4-5-1 if NRC is out.
Coyle will probably go the other way and think, "well I've only got two attacking midfielders so I might as well play 4-4-2."
When what we really should be doing is getting an extra body in there to make up for the fact we have no-one with defensive and tackling ability anywhere in the midfield.
I don't know why he doesn't get Steinsson or Riley in at right-back (I remember him doing quite well when he played) and then maybe he's got room to put Boyata in at CB and try Ream again in midfield. Someone, anyone willing to put in a dour, defensive display in the engine room. After Coker came off against Spurs our presence in midfield vanished. We really, really can't play the last 2 games with Vela and Mavies as our midfield. They'll be running at our back 4 all game.
As an aside, Ricketts has been poor at left-back but barring something we haven't seen from Alonso, we have no-one else.

This, now, is all about character.
Domed then.
Domed then.

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Unless the magic team picking hat plays a blinder and Odemwingway swaps side s at half time to even things up I fear Jaffka may be right but fek it WBA FFs COYWM. I can no longer be arsed playing guess the team suppose it's whoever feels fit and upfor it. In Vela we trust.........
