Hmm. Only I've also read this complete and utter bollocks somewhere as well which someone's clearly made-up and, quite cruelly, attributed to Whelan.
“Norman Deeley came right over the ball.
Today he would have been sent off and banned for a long time.
He came six inches over the ball, he came for me not the ball".
May the bridges I burn light your way

Looks more to me like Whelan got his studs stuck in the mud going into a heavy tackle himself and the other guy tripped over Whelan's leg, breaking it as he went.
Re: Wigan
Not sure why people are taking the piss. They'll be in the same league as us next season, the only difference is that they're F.A. Cup holders and they've got a Charity Shield against Utd at Wembley to look forward to, not to mention a Europa League campaign.

Re: Wigan
And, as we know, Whelan's far too nice a guy than to try and blame someone else for his own shit tackle. Especially someone that's no longer around to defend himself!ChrisC wrote:Bruce Rioja wrote:ChrisC wrote:Not to sure. Re: Wigan
Shit, I forgot about the Charity Shield!
Load of bollocks again that.. Expecting fans to travel 220 miles and fork out £65 for a pre-season friendly.
I can't wait for the "Ooh shit club, shit fans. They only took 6000 to Wembley for that friendly" :groan:

How did that work out for Millwall the season they got to play in Europa League?BL3 wrote:Not sure why people are taking the piss. Re: Wigan
I'm sure their fans had a whale of a time in Hungary or wherever they played

Re: Wigan
No doubt BB and BL3, my point would be that whilst Wigan are in Europa League next season I predict they won't make it past the group stage and it's a group stage as UEFA changed the formatboltonboris wrote:I'm sure their fans had a whale of a time in Hungary or wherever they played

Millwall had to play in the preliminary round because they lost the final.
Carry on.
BL3 in every other club and manager is better than us and ours shocker!
Carry on.

That's even better. They're guaranteed at least 2 away games.TKIZ! wrote:No doubt BB and BL3, my point would be that whilst Wigan are in Europa League next season I predict they won't make it past the group stage and it's a group stage as UEFA changed the formatboltonboris wrote:I'm sure their fans had a whale of a time in Hungary or wherever they played

Again, I'm sure their fans will be absolutely devastated about playing in Europe with a smaller squad than they had last season.

Re: Wigan
Again, no doubt their fans will love it but had they stayed in the Premier League they would have at least tried to progress. Are they going to do that now? Doubt itboltonboris wrote:BWFC_Insane wrote:Coming down to the championship and the extra games with a small squad.......

Re: Wigan
I don't the standard of their squad will diminish enough for it to make any difference. As it didn't with ours.

Re: Wigan
Yeah but they won't care. Cos they've won the FA cup it's all irrelevant now. They can dine out on it for 40 years like Sunderland fans have. And I'm sure just like Sunderland fans they'll never demand any future progress or be unhappy cos they have you know, won something......oh.....TKIZ! wrote:Again, no doubt their fans will love it but had they stayed in the Premier League they would have at least tried to progress. It depends whether you see 'progress' as just surviving in the Premier League or actually winning something.BWFC_Insane wrote:Yeah but they won't care.
