We're currently fourteenth (and might not be able to improve on that, certainly not this week and it depends on others), but that's much better overall. Still a bit taken aback by some of Dougie's pearls of wisdom. This from the Huddersfield game which we won in the 92'nd minute off a corner:

I think that point is very valid and obvious. We improved over the past few months and became more resilient and solid. We'd not have got that result before simply cos we'd already have conceded at least one.

I don't have it in me to boo our players, or, indeed, the team as a whole. It's as simple as if you have that white shirt on, you're mine. I hate it when the boos and insults and rage starts.

But Trotter has not shown anything to convince me that he is even bottom half of championship standard.

Yet. He may still in five games left to take us up to 12th and 'top half'.

I guess we'll have a 'reflections on the season thread' at the end of it all. Well, we will, because I'll start if no one else does...

But hey, winning two aways on the run... i am happy... :D

Aye, can't see the point of booing a player coming on, no matter how bad they are. It's certainly been frustrating as a season, though.

Booing a player is poor form .... but what opportunity do the fans have to get through to Captain Contradiction that his apparent determination to sign this human mattress is up there with is wilder ideas ? If you see a clear mistake being made what are the fans expected to do ?
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Here's my take on the booing from the middle of it all. We looked very good first half with mason and Juke close together, very dangerous every time we went forward. They had a spell towards the end of the half so Dougie shits himself and tells Mason to drop into midfield, where he looks uncomfortable. At this point rather than attack a vulnerable defence Trotter appears ready to play. the fans start to chant 4-4-2, simplistic perhaps but the point is clear. Then up goes Mason's number and as Trotter came on some boos rang out, not as many as is being made out. Many including my mates and I made a point of clapping him onto the pitch even though we disagreed with the substitution, and I think it was frustration with Freedman as much as personal against Trotter. Then there was an almighty slanging match between 2 fans near us and a bloke who booed.
Late on he put Beckford on up front alongside Juke with Trotter moving wider (out of the way) and we carved them open twice and should have scored but for woeful misses from Beckford and the otherwise excellent Danns.
Well done to them today, a hard-earned victory and an enjoyable awayday.

Unbeaten in six away games, now that is a nice stat.

A six page thread. Is this a record low for a match thread ?

It is just feckwittery though. There is more than one way to skin a cat. I mean Allardyce wouldn't exactly be shy of taking off an attacking player for a more defensive minded option if we were leading with 20 minutes to go away from home. And that is before we even get to the fact that Allardyce wouldn't have had 2 up in the first place. Chelsea played 1 up front from the start last night in a match they needed to score at least 2 goals in. And added their other strikers into the mix only late on. There is more than one way to do things and when you're under pressure away from home but have a lead you often have to first resist before anything else.

There was the same sort of moaning and frustration with Megson with stupid chants for "4-4-2" and the like. Then we got Coyle. Some fans have exceedingly short memories.
