Not sure why you've chosen the pub that will be 1st, or possibly 2nd on the Zulu relegation rampage but should make it interesting.
I'll probably mosey along wi mi da.
Scotts is more likely to be a trouble spot and the Beehive is an away pub. The de Vere Whites wouldn't let Tziki is coz he has an ear stud.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Read this .... it seems our view of our own malaise is not uncommon.

Stream will be available for those who can't attend due to the wife having a hair trial in south wales for a wedding that doesn't happen for another 3 months or for those with a more valid reason.

Well quite and there are many more clubs who have once been in the premiership but now aren't to whom those very same thoughts can be attributed.bobo the clown wrote:This.Bruce Rioja wrote:Read what?bobo the clown wrote:Read this .... it seems our view of our own malaise is not uncommon.

I think it is why, personally I'm not at this current moment in the "Freedman going will fix it all" camp. If there is such a camp. I personally have the view that IF we can sink no lower and stabilise and rebuild from here then that will be a good job. A very good job. It is a very big IF I realise.
But there are a whole host of clubs who have gone through what we are and have and I feel it is more to do with the financial structure of football than anything. If you've been in the premiership for a while, then it is murder when you come back down. You usually have debts, players being paid too much for failure, a wage bill that doesn't reflect your quality etc. And this league I think, caught me by total surprise as to how hard it was. People can say it hasn't got quality, but teams are organised and disciplined in it and usually have one or two players capable of opening teams up. You need to be very consistent and disciplined to do well in this league and many relegated teams are there because they lack those very qualities. Indeed they were probably the two things we lacked most. Because we had players with undoubted ability. But their fragility was exposed in this division.
We're not an anomaly, and aren't especially bad in terms of teams coming down and struggling. Some have done worse and plenty similar.
I looked at the teams who went back up in their first season from the last 10 years. That is 6 from 30. So historically the odds aren't with you. And 3 of those 6 appointed new managers after their relegation. 2 had new managers before relegation but effectively new managers in that they'd been there less than 6 months. So really 5 out of 6 had a new broom in to sweep clean the mess and provide an air of optimism. The exception was Birmingham under Steve Bruce who retained him and went straight back up. Your first season does not statistically give you a great chance of a return and it seems the chance is even worse unless you make a managerial change that summer to give someone new a chance to wipe away some of the failure of relegation and bring a fresh approach to kick start your new campaign.

at the risk of re-opening and going over the entire debate again, what has caused most of the disappointment/ frustration was the point that we came down in as good a shape, form and playing staff wise, as any relegated club could hope to have - we didn't come down having been tonked every week or then see our squad stripped. so I get why we didnt have a complete overhaul and am still a bit unsure why we made such a hash of it.BWFC_Insane wrote:Well quite and there are many more clubs who have once been in the premiership but now aren't to whom those very same thoughts can be attributed.bobo the clown wrote:This.Bruce Rioja wrote:Read what?bobo the clown wrote:Read this .... it seems our view of our own malaise is not uncommon.

of course what has happened subsequently, FFP and our failure to build on the relative advantages we had, means we are now in the overhaul mode. I share what others have said and see little prospect under our current custodian of competing anywhere near the right end of the table, nor playing in a way that provides anything other than the very occasional flash of emotion, excitement or entertainment. We are in the epoch of 'meh', so strap yourselves in.
Whens the thread on predictions / realistic performance targets for next season opening then ?
