Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Personally, I'm refusing to pay more than 30 quid for an away ticket this year and 25 at home, which means the Cat A matches are out. Unless we take a stand together, it's only going to get worse.
I can feel another call to Savage coming on......
Modern football buddy, stings the wallet a bit. Still if we're selling out you can't say they haven't got the pricing right from a business point of view.
To be honest, I wouldn't have paid it normally, but I go on holiday next week and I'm missing our first three home games - got to get my football fix.
Reminds me though - I thought you could get 5k in your away end? We'd sold out 3600 very early, so why didn't you send any more down? I'm sure someone said dirty leeds had brought 4500 to your place the other year?

Whatever the reason, it's ridiculous. There used to be good banter between the home and away fans, but now they keep us apart.
Strangely enough, dirty Leeds, the dirtiest fans in all the land, were given the entire south stand. Normally, the powers that be at Bolton leave a few hundred seats empty. I'm not sure why, but people speculate it has something to do with keeping our "crazy" fans away from the visiting fans after seats were ripped up against Blackburn 2 years back.needles wrote:Bijou Bob wrote:You're clearly a decent bloke Needles, so whatever the score tomorrow, it's only tight that we apologise for ripping you off for 33 quid, it's feckin scandalous. Apparently the away side still have to shell out for any unsold tickets, so it's more to do with how many you've requested rather than how many we've let you have. The away end does hold around 5,000, but they have to create a gap in order that you don't get dragged into a battle of wits with the unarmed types of Special Needs Corner.needles wrote: Reminds me though - I thought you could get 5k in your away end? Thanks lads, I understand. I reckon we'd have sold another few hundred, but very much doubt we'd have shifted another thousand so that would make some sense.
What do we reckon then, 17k-18k gate? And where should I go for a pint?

The Beehive is the nominated away pub. Come off the M61 and drive passed the stadium, through the lights and you'll come to a roundabout. The pub is straight ahead. Take a right at the roundabout, then first left and first left again. This will take you onto the car park.needles wrote:Thanks lads, I understand. Alternatively, there is Barnstormers which takes a more sensible approach and allows both sets of supporters to enjoy a drink. After passing the ground, take the far right lane at the lights and turn right. The pub is a couple of hundred yards up on the right. Plenty of parking around there too.

We're a hospitable bunch as a rule, but the most 'away friendly' pub is The Beehive. If you carry on up the dual carriageway so that the hotel end of the ground is to your left, then you'll come to the roundabout which it's on. If you park up by the ground then it'll take you three or four minutes to walk it.needles wrote:Thanks lads, I understand. Regarding attendance, last season went generally along the lines of 14,000 plus the away end. We've sold over 10,000 season tickets and you'll be bringing a bunch, plus it being the 1st game of the season and us v you's generally a decent do, so yeah, personally I'd hope for around 18K.

May I also take this opportunity to tell you that my dearly beloved Godson is currently playing cricket for Derbyshire Colts. A couple of weeks ago, in a tournament down in Taunton, he knocked three centuries in as many matches. (((Proud Godfather)))

I'd rather be happy than right (and I was, on the day of that parade...) so I don't really care. But FWIW, Comstive was an ugly old fecker and Jeffrey was a comparatively attractive fresh-faced type. Fascinating Fact: he was released by the club on the same day they announced Rioch's arrival. I thought the lad had talent, and he scored a few for Donny after leaving us, but hey-ho.Harry Genshaw wrote:I thought it was the legend that was Gary Henshaw but after a really close look - DSB is right. He ran Newcastle ragged in a pre season friendly playing for Donny, which led to the ever excitable Kevin Keegan shelling out a tidy sum for what was a limited player. A bit like Coyle with EavesDave Sutton's barnet wrote:I'd rather be happy than right (and I was, on the day of that parade...) so I don't really care.
