Declan John is on the bench, so we can all stop panicking

Mind you Rico's out again, so we can start wildly hypothesising that he's gone to the moon or something

Ha, course they are.

One must remember that not all voices are worthy of equal attention.

I'm starting to wonder if last summer's story of "initially underwhelming RWB signing overshadowed by the one that got away" might just happen again...

Long way to go obvz but all the noise about JDC has been positive. Long may that continue.

We’ve also learned it’s too much for one bloke to do. We need more on the left and genuine options on the right.

We didn’t go up. One of the reasons was we had only one bloke capable of being an outlet and nothing else.

I spotted the first bit. Just not sure it has anything to do with the fact we've only just spotted it's an idea to be able to attack down both sides. And preferably up the middle too.

Again same wild speculation but a few now suggesting that we have received a bid from a championship club for Santos.

TBF, Bertie, if it's a fair wallop and allows us to sort out a few other positions...maybe it's something to consider...

I don't disagree Worthy, but surely it has to be £5M.£6M,£7M etc. not £500k or £1M

I'll be totally honest as well that I haven't got a clue whether we will be competitive or not this season, the negativity amongst some fans is growing rapidly and to be honest unless we pull a couple of seriously good players out of the bag. the current squad would be lucky to reach the play offs - zero creativity & zero goals, we have a team of Evatt robots.

Sounds pretty grim today in both weather and performance.

There are some broader things that make me question what is going on in a broader sense here. Not replacing the pitch even though we were told last year it was years overdue. Failure to complete deals for players we identified as top choices.

Has something with the finances gone wrong here? Something simply doesn’t feel right.

And as the above post references and indeed Marc Iles wrote about today there is some disquiet growing in the fan base. Unsurprisingly so. We were sold a tilt at the top 2 with the club leaving ‘no stone unturned’ yet here we are with the squad absolutely weaker than last year selling players and being told we simply have to wait for better players to come available whilst our rivals certainly aren’t say twiddling their thumbs.

Agree, first part Bertie.

I'm still on let's see where we land second part. But certainly in the "need to see something land." Just think Evatt's probably earned the right to work his way through transfer window, without the benefit of my expert guidance. :-)

Let’s be realistic - no one is paying anywhere near £5m for Santos. Probably £2m tops.

How has he earned the right ?, he's just spunked £3/4M on two strikers who haven't a clue how to score goals and his signings in general have been 50/50 - please don't over inflate Evatt's ability based on winning the Papa Johns.

He doesn't like creativity, flair or width - as I've said previously IMO it looks like he wants a team of robots. I honestly want to be proven wrong but at the moment I can't see it, I'll be the first to say I'm wrong should we sign 2 or 3 top players before the season starts, but for me it'll just be more 20, 21 year old loans. At is stands today we are worse than we ended last season in terms of quality, creativity and more importantly goals. The decision by Evatt to sign Nlundulu for £200k or so really has me questioning him.

I think we’d do extremely well to get £2M.

It might change if he proved himself the league up but his age also works against it too.

He’s ill according to the club.
