Welcome to Bolton. Wrexham (h), 18/08, 3pm

Where fellow sufferers gather to share the pain, longing and unrequited transfer requests that make being a Wanderer what it is...

Feels like nowts changed for me… plenty of possession none of it particularly penetrating their back line.
Parky tactics always going to make it difficult. Big occasion and don't telly. I think they get the benefit of the doubt.

Until we get Charles through on goal that turns out to be flagged incorrectly for offside.

Feels like Wrexham are getting the rub of the green and we're hoping for scraps.

Echoes of the Wigan 1-0 defeat here. Dominant performance, Wrexham barely getting a sniff, but us not getting a goal despite the pressure.

I think they’re a poor outfit. Will be disappointed if we don’t win, or god forbid lose to a set piece goal.

Yeah that’s the game it reminds me of Mar. We’ll be making some subs sharpish I hope.

I think we've been miles better and you struggle to see how Parky takes them to the next level.

Felt to me like watching paint dry that first half. 5 minutes of intensity followed by 40 of slow ineffective build up and a complete lack of outlet. If nobody is going to run at sides we ain’t going to be going anywhere. Pre season friendly levels of boredom.

Sideways and predictable. Maybe we’ve tired them out for the second half. Let’s hope so.

Are the casters holding out on the couch?

Very plush indeed.

Like a few on here, I have that sinking feeling that after we dominate the first half-hour with nothing to show for it, they'll score off a set piece.

Which would also render this forum virtually unhabitable.

That's the Parky 101 masterclass.

We tore into them and they dropped off as a result. Fair play to them for reacting to what was happening on the pitch. We have dribblers on the bench (Tutu and Matete) and if Wrexham sit in again we can use them later on.

Santos has been imperious. Baxter sweeping up well when called upon.

This is the type of game where a lack of fluidity up front can hurt you early in the season.

Revan vs Schon is a good battle down that flank.

Would have been a good game for Lolos. Shame.

Too early to rely on Dempsey and his industry as well. Matete and Victor will be on soonish I think.

In other footballing news, the Women won 6-0 in their opening fixture. Good for them!

As for Bolton, scrappy Parkinson giving them a good account of themselves. We really could do with a goal. We're matching them for effort, our class hasn't yet shone through in a manner that matters.

Schon is not as quick as I’d like for that position.

Clear as day booking for Santos there. Hand in the back of Sheehan there, exactly the same as Thomason in the first half. Two different refereeing calls. At least be consistent ref.

fecking Dacres-Cogley again. He’s not worked on his crossing this pre season for sure.

It appears it's the same Bolton. Lots of possession but little end product.
Age and treachery will always overcome youth and skill!

And the key to a result is a good :kettle:

What a player he would be if he managed to sort out his crossing. So many times in decent positions and no end product.

Final third ball today hasn't been great from out wide.

Great play from Tomo and Charles with that shot. Good save too, more of that please.

I suppose the answer to that is he wouldn’t be playing in league one. But this system needs more out of that flank.
