.
For me he had pace and strength, got past the defenders, rode two / three challenges at a time. Final ball lacking but thats something that will come. For a fast winger i though his strength, determination and back-tracking was outstanding.
oh yeah i love joking around me...Bijou Bob wrote:You're kidding?? He was dire, lots of pace, no idea where to run and nothing in the way of a decent final ball. And that was against Championship defenders.

Dos Santos is in "advanced negotiations" with Villarreal.

We are making another balls up of a transfer window.
Waiting on too many things rather than making things happen. We have some money, we should have identified who was available and who we wanted.
We've waited a week for Spurs to confirm a price with us for Dos Santos and still don't know if he'd even consider a move here (according to the usual).
Christ I wish I could be as slow with recruitment as Bolton are....

Same old Bolton....the next will be Bangoura - we 'tried' but due to the African nations & work permit etc...we couldn't get him in time, they'll then name 6 others who we where 'close to getting' but time ran out - but we may get Le Touxboltonboris wrote:Dos Santos is in "advanced negotiations" with Villarreal.
They've only had 4 months to plan & realistically target since the last window closed - BWFC run by the 'chuckle brothers' !

The wankers here are Spurs for even pretending we were in the mix. Very young, Spanish first language speaking Mexican multi-millionaire currently earning serious Spurs money & living in London has option to move to Spanish club .... or Bolton.
That alluring option would also mean continuing in a league he has failed in for years already.
... and him not coming to us is a disgrace and shows we are unambitious and shite ??
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

feck*' 'ell! We wanted a loan with a view to a permanent move.
Spurs weren't keen, so touted him around. The spaniards have come in and offered them cash. They are now keen. Not our fault!!

Nah I'm not that bothered as Dos Santos is a big gamble anyways.
Just bothered by how we're so slow to react (seemingly) and according to Nixon are STILL waiting on an answer from Spurs re Dos Santos before moving onto others...
Not a lack of ambition or nonsense like that, just we seem slow, sluggish and uninspired when it comes to transfer windows nowadays. With Sam we always seemed to "make things happen".
Now we seem to wait for things to happen. Perhaps just perception!

Do you not think in this time where there is an ever increasing demand for instant information we should just, you know, step back one or two paces and let conversations happen and contracts be drawn up? It doesn't happen overnight and we don't know for certain these players are ACTUALLY being targetted. Column inches need filling to satisfy the ever increasing demand for instant information and so we get linked with all and sundry to meet the need.

Well yes. But bottom line is we've got 7 days left of a 31 day window and as yet we've sold one player for 7M sent one loan player back and signed, nobody to the stage of official announcement! Whatever way you look at it, we're hardly, inventive, dynamic and fast moving in the market are we?Gary the Enfield wrote:BWFC_Insane wrote:bobo the clown wrote:... and you were almost positive for a few minutes.BWFC_Insane wrote:Shocking.boltonboris wrote:Dos Santos is in "advanced negotiations" with Villarreal.

Another example, Le Toux has gone back after his weeks trial. According to Nixon we were "impressed" but have to determine fee, terms, whether anyone better comes up etc...
Now I get waiting to see if someone better pitches up. BUT surely in the time its taken to get him over and whilst he was here, we'd have determined a fee with his club and terms with his agent? As it is he's flown back and we seemingly haven't made our minds up, let alone progressed the deal.
Not trying to say its easy or owt, but when you read some of the details Nixon posts it does make you despair a bit.....

And there we have it. Also:
Villarreal and Racing Santander have made enquiries about the £4m-rated former Barcelona star, but Wanderers are the only club to have made put an offer in writing.
Coyle ......could offer the youngster a chance to sign on loan until the end of the season before making up his mind about a permanent move.
This in in the same story in the BEN, just two paragraphs apart.
'We are the only to have made an offer' in which case how can he be in advanced talks with Villareal?
'Coyle could offer a loan deal' In which case we can't have made an offer.
Media bollocks.

But that BN article is pretty much what Nixon has been saying for days....apart from the GDS loan bit...
Now, the whole "sweat it out for fresh faces" bit. Does that mean wait till the last day and hope?
Its not the sort of strategy I'd get away with.
