Just been reading something about Marcos Alonso being instrumental in Derik Osede's move to our place from RM. I did wonder how he seems to know so much about us.

Presumably it went something like, "Yeah go for it, it doesn't matter if you're shit and can't defend, you've come from Real Madrid so they'll love you anyway. Just watch out for Damian Duff".

Our new reserve will be closer to Fred Barber than Al-Habsi

From the BN, under a story confirming that the keeper coach has joined Charlton:
Wanderers have offered Medo Kamara to his former club Partizan Belgrade. The Sierra Leone international spent the second half of last season on loan at Maccabi Haifa, and the Israeli club have already passed on the chance to sign him.

The Whites have offered the 27-year-old out to several European clubs without success, although Partizan are weighing up their options. Lennon is planning to move on a handful of players in order to make some signings of his own, hinting that midfield could be where he looks to trim his squad.

“I’m not going to say we’ll bring in a plethora of players but there’s no question there are positions which need strengthening,” he told The Bolton News. “We’re over-loaded in central midfield and there are other areas we need to look at where we’re light.”

Makes sense in a way... Medo being a player with experience on the continent is a more sellable asset than someone like Trotter who with his experience being only in this country (and being shit) doesn't give the club as much scope to move him on.

A shame in a way because I think he's a decent player but if like Lennon says it allows us to bolster the squad where we're shorter on players it's a good thing.

Feeney
Vela
Medo
Spearing
Pratters
Davies
Trotter
Twardzik
Hall
Danns
Walker

From that lot, I would think Medo, Trotter and Spearing are on their way. Spearing and Medo on hefty wages and Trotter probably more than he is worth due to coming in on a free and the usual inflated wages. Maybe even see Hall going if his attitude is no better.

Stripping Spearing of the captaincy has pretty much put the last nail in for him.

Splitting those into 'wingers' (of sorts) and central, and then the central into creative and spoilers, we have .... & yes, I know some offer more than one option -

Wingers -
Hall
Walker
Feeney

Spoilers -
Vela
Medo
Spearing
Trotter (in the fullest sense of the word 'spoiler;)

Creatives -
Pratters
Davies
Danns

I honestly have no idea ....

The reason Pratley stopped looking so shit is because we finally got a manager who realised Darren is not a "creative" but a "run around a lot getting in the way of them rather than us".

And yeah. Medo is shite. Being better than Trotter can't be enough!

Danns can play in the creative roles - the '3' of the 4-2-3-1 - but he can also be a destroyer, which is where he played best for Lennon until he ran himself to a standstill.

Vela, Pratley and Danns rotating in the '2' would be OK. I don't think Trotter is a hopeless case (lots of folk here had given up on Pratley) but I wouldn't cry if he left. Medo's face clearly doesn't fit and Spearing is probably now our best-paid player.

I would even add in Clayton as a winger/creative mid. I don't see NL playing him up top. I think Lennon will go with three creative mids behind the forwards once everyone is fit.

Something like this..

---------Clough-----Madine---------

--Clayton------Davies-------Feeney

----------Pratters----Vela-----------

------Ream----Dervite----Derik-----

-----------------Amos-----------------

Or if we find a proper right back then remove one of the mids sat in front of the defence.

There's the old 4-4-2 vs 4-2-3-1 thing as to whether the 10 is a striker or a midfielder, but that argument aside, Clough is going to be playing there a lot so it's likely to be 2 of the central types plus Zach.

It's like two new signings! Sort of. And one of them's a central midfielder. Lennon in the BN on Spearing and Clayton:
He [Spearing] will get a chance. I haven’t written Jay off at all. Last season he had to go out to Blackburn and play because it wasn’t doing him any good being on the sidelines, but he’s come back, his attitude has always been good, and the door is wide open for him.
I’m really looking forward to getting Max [Clayton] back into the reckoning. People might have forgotten about him a bit because he’s been out for so long but he definitely isn’t far away now. I want to take my time with him because I don’t want to rush him back but we hope to have him for a full season – and that’s another quality player that I didn’t have in the second half of last season. He’s a good player and an athlete with good pace, there’s a goal in him and his movement is excellent so when we get him back out there he will definitely add to our attacking threat.
Iles also says Partizan Belgrade don't want Medo.

Quick decision making from Partizan - wasn't it only in yesterdays paper the report he was being offered. Smells old or made up.
