Ah, yes. I'm sure he'd commented on it somewhere, but thought maybe it was a Kenny missive. Here's what he said at the Q&A:bristol_Wanderer3 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 18, 2018 8:33 pmKen did say at the last Q&A that he could see the concerts in the summer being held at the "Bolton Stadium" as opposed to the Macron, suggesting he saw at the least the possibility of Macron not extending their sponsorship...palindromeofbolton wrote: ↑Thu Jan 18, 2018 6:40 pmYou got me thinking... the four-year deal with Macron is up in the summer - albeit there is an option to extend.bristol_Wanderer3 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 18, 2018 5:38 pmStill that means the club only needs £2.5m-£3.5m in extra ticket sales, cup runs, better sponsorship deals, or player trading. We have the concerts arranged for the summer to bring in revenue too.
While I doubt we're going to make any more on any new deal (or deals plural, if the kit deal and stadium name deal were split) it could be that Ken wangles cash up front to help cashflow?
Not sure how keen both the club and Macron would be to extend the current deal given the relationship has been through a couple of slightly "challenging" situations over the past 18 months.
Are we looking towards a stadium name-change?
“The answer is yes. We are coming towards the end of our Macron naming rights. Discussions are going on both with Macron and others.
“At the moment nothing has been decided but as we know it’s significant income having the naming rights to a stadium and, again, I don’t think the contract that we’ve had here was the best or most commercial I have ever seen. It is similar to some of the other commercial contracts I inherited.
“They may renew. Or we may look for someone else.
(Asked how long the deal has to run) “Let’s say that we talked about the concerts earlier and I am not sure when we are promoting it that we will be calling it the Macron Stadium. It might be called the Bolton Wanderers Stadium.
“I spoke with Paul Aldridge just before we came in and asked how we’d promote it and to be honest I don’t know the answer. It’s a moveable feast. But if anyone wants to pay £10m I’ll speak to you later."

In effect, it's a business deal not done by a business man (his predecessor) and he wants to change it more in the club's favour?
Nothing amiss with that; such is the way of the world. Alexis Sanchez's agent wants millions just for being his agent, that's football today.

More from the owner:
https://www.bwfc.co.uk/news/2018/januar ... chairman4/
Including a diatribe against agents, which is particularly amusing considering he's one and so is his son. We won't be paying up any contracts (in full) but we might send fringe players out on loan, "as at least we get a contribution to our costs".

Yeah, this seems sensible.
https://twitter.com/KieranMaguire/statu ... 4517617664
(Iles: "The year Wanderers went down. Cut wage bill massively since then and (it would appear) increased commercial revenues." SuperWhiteSmurf responds: "Alas these figures don’t account for repayment of our £15-20m hard debt. A trivial sum at that time in comparison to EDs £185m soft debt. But not now & it’s all either overdue repayment or pending payment by Aug 18.")
Anyway, if our finances are mad, others' are madder. Unsustainably insane.

If I'm reading that right, financially our house is in better order now, than most? Borough, Brentford and Forest are in danger of becoming the next basket cases?
I wonder what the lowest ratio in the league is. Does any club spend less than 50% of their turnover on wages?

When I do that it takes me to a twitter page that displays the same bar charts in even less detail. If Iles is right about wages going down massively and income going up... maybe BWFC does this season?Harry Genshaw wrote: ↑Sat Jan 27, 2018 12:06 pmIf I'm reading that right, financially our house is in better order now, than most? The players you fail to sign never lose you any money.

We've apparently paid the tax man off and are clear, and Chungy tells why he didn't get here:

Those accounts were...predictably bad. But that was whilst we were at our lowest ebb.

Anyone at the AGM today? Anything exciting/interesting/depressing to report?
A few tidbits from Marc Iles via Twitter:
Re the budget, we were nattering about this earlier in this same thread a few months ago, but Amos and Pratley alone could basically cover that £1.5m a year on reported wages. *If* Cardiff get promoted, I wonder if they can be coaxed into taking Amos on for a small fee? I'd guess that, plus retaining Alnwick or Howard, would be KA preferred option, since it would work out cheaper.
A few tidbits from Marc Iles via Twitter:
- "Thought Ken Anderson came across well and answered what he could on governance. Answers seemed to satisfy the shareholders"
- Main points were that financial plan is in place for best and worst case scenario on Sunday. KA seems set to do a similar budget cutting job but says "big earners" are now at £1.5m rather than £4m
- KA also said he had injected a "substantial" amount of his own money into the club last week.
- Wanderers have struggled to find directors, with KA admitting past financial issues are potentially putting candidates off.
But says interested parties in buying /investing are still there
- Added that Macron's naming rights to the stadium expire after Sunday. New deal seems close.
Kit contract in place long term

Charlton you mean. There's no way Cardiff are buying him after his spell there!

Ha yes I thought that! He ended up as Warnock's fourth choice which is some doing.

Ha! Sorry, yes, meant Charlton. Though nevertheless offers from Cardiff, Chelsea, Celta Vigo or Corinthians shouldn't be dismissed out of hand, imo.

Indeed - according to Those Figures, Amos is on £16kpw (£832kpa) and Pratley £14kpw (£728kpa), which fits those numbers: the shortfall would be made up by Spearing and Mark Davies (each £18kpw / £936kpa) and Trotter (£11kpw / £572kpa), although obviously he's rounding figures out, as we all do.palindromeofbolton wrote: ↑Tue May 01, 2018 6:04 pmA few tidbits from Marc Iles via Twitter:

As of June 30, when the "legacy" contracts of Pratley and Derik expire, Amos will be the only player on a contract not agreed by Ken (and, conspiracy theories notwithstanding, Parky). It's their squad.
Reminder that the only players thus far contracted for next season are Amos, Jake Turner, Little, Darby, Andrew Taylor, Vela, Buckley, Noone and Le Fondre. Again: it's a good clean-slate opportunity, whomever the manager and whatever the division.

Clean slate opportunity? We'll have nowt to play with. Not sure its a good opportunity for anything other than another flirtation with administration. If we go down and lose the 7M projected income. Plus then the Blu marble loan repayments kick in. And the PBP loan.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Wed May 02, 2018 11:10 amIndeed - according to Those Figures, Amos is on £16kpw (£832kpa) and Pratley £14kpw (£728kpa), which fits those numbers: the shortfall would be made up by Spearing and Mark Davies (each £18kpw / £936kpa) and Trotter (£11kpw / £572kpa), although obviously he's rounding figures out, as we all do.palindromeofbolton wrote: ↑Tue May 01, 2018 6:04 pmA few tidbits from Marc Iles via Twitter:

I suspect the opportunity for any manager will be once again "here's your lot, good luck".
