Alex Finney has been released. Strange one.

So now we have cover for GK, LB, RB and CH.
Next priority: wingers. We need two more with some pace.
Finally: Another striker to play off Proctor and Madine. Then we are done.
That should make the squad complete and ready.
Play off?

We're in league one. Proctor looks absolutely fine to me. Not sure what the issue is.Hoboh wrote:irie Cee Bee wrote:I like PP's approach.. building from the back to prevent last seasons debacle of conceding 2 goals every game. Good teams are founded on strong defenses and clean sheets.

Indeed. I was surprised he was kept on given we got rid of others with better prospects. AND he payed on Tuesday did he not ?
I'm guessing he & PP didn't see eye to eye over that performance.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

That principle could be the thin end of a thick wedge looking across Tuesday's back line.bobo the clown wrote:???BWFC_Insane wrote:Alex Finney has been released. Strange one.

Bolton news saying he's been released because we want to bring a signing in but can't because we carried too many senior players for the FL monitoring.bobo the clown wrote:???BWFC_Insane wrote:Alex Finney has been released. Strange one.

Updated their story. Finney gone to allow them to register Taylor.

Which, when coupled with Parky's earlier proclamation that he's still after more players ("We’re trying hard to get people in and hopefully something will be sorted by the time we go to Wimbledon”), means we must still be actively seeking to shift some more players on. So who's next oot? Surely we're trying to find a home for Conor Wilkinson, if he counts as senior? (He's 21)BWFC_Insane wrote:Updated their story. EDIT Indeed Iles has just tweeted
Won't be a new signing today at #bwfc - (at least I don't think so!) - but PP says he has two or three "irons in the fire"

hmmm.. we're unlikely to be shifting Pratley now...

Finney is going partly because of the transfer restrictions we still operate under, one in (Taylor) so one must go out (Finney).

It isn't one in one out. We have a senior player budget the FL want us to adhere to. So presumably that budget is pretty full up now. I'm sure if we got rid of some players it would allow for several in.Riviman wrote:http://www.theboltonnews.co.uk/sport/wa ... istration/?

Re: For new signings, ask the man from the Pru
By the same rationale, I doubt Finney was on as much as Taylor. So either Wigan are happy to take us paying a small slice of his wage (possible, as they wanted shut so much they didn't give him a squad number) or it is, as you say, not as simple as one in one out. But the BN does say "Wanderers are under an embargo which limits the number of first team players they can have in their squad, with each incoming deal needing scrutiny from the Football League."BWFC_Insane wrote:It isn't one in one out. So now we're releasing young promising players from the academy in order to accommodate 30 somethings, with patchy injury records?
Wonderful.
Nothing like a bit of short-termism. No wonder this club is on it's arse.

Makes you wonder why we played Finney tue, indeed why we have persisted with him for so long. What happens at centre half now with an injury?

Possibly, though I think it's questionable how good Finney was or is.boltonboris wrote:So now we're releasing young promising players from the academy in order to accommodate 30 somethings, with patchy injury records?

End of the day I think we have no choice but to look short term. We don't have the luxury to do anything else.
Thank Eddie for that.
Re: For new signings, ask the man from the Pru
I never really saw Finney being a regular but like you say, he's not been binned off to bring a superstar in. I'm hoping the piemen are exaggerating how shit taylor is or it could look like a bad decision.boltonboris wrote:So now we're releasing young promising players from the academy in order to accommodate 30 somethings, with patchy injury records?

Re: For new signings, ask the man from the Pru
If it is more of a salary cap as BWFCI states then not sure how we would ever bring any more players in as it doesn't look like we are going to get rid of anyone on a decent salary? I guess we can cancel the contract of the likes of Wilkinson and maybe Walker (????) if it is about numbers.
Pretty disturbing we are still under such scrutiny. It would be nice to know more about the actual real details around our finances.
