If I were a manager I'd want to buy Vela.

Seemed to me to be a general comment from Heskey. Nowhere in the report does he actually mention specifically what the headline claims. Journalists making stuff up. Who'd have thought it?

If Vela is the new Hunt, then Ream is the new Ray Wilkins (the Crab) as all he bloody does is go sidewards or backwards with the ball. NL needs to tell him hes allowed to go forward with it.

Heskey was asked whether he thought Lennon could do a job at a big club. He obviously said yes. Then they asked him about villa as he played for them. Then come up with some bullshit 'exclusive' headline linking the two comments. Talkshite c#nts!

Seems like Heskey was led on a bit but N.L not amused:

I thought both Bogdan's and Lonergan's contracts were up at the end of the season. I don't think we will be 'selling' either but there is a good chance both/one will be leaving for nothing.

The fact that United's fifth-choice goalkeeper earns that much says a lot about the current football reality.

For twenty large a week he'd better start keeping some clean sheets. No point divesting ourselves of wage-hoggers like Zat, Andrews and Spearing then splurging on a relatively unknown goalkeeper.

Think we might have to either/or with Boggers and Lonners and have a cheaper (older or younger) backup.

£20k per week? Divide it by 10 and it's possibly more our region.

That's a hell of a lot for a guy who's only had a few loan spells in the lower leagues who is fifth choice at his parent club . Personally I hope bogdan stays as he has the potential to become a real presence with the right mindset . It may all come down to money but watching bogdan go for nowt and develop into an exceptional keeper wouldn't be good business . Lonergan has done great this season but hasn't got the potential to develop much further.

Bogdan is 27 now. I don't think he will develop much further to be honest. Some say goalkeepers don't reach their peak until 30 but I don't think he will get much better.

Saying that, I think he is a good keeper now.

All about opinions but I disagree . He reminds me of schmeichel's lad at Leicester who really didn't come into his peak till a couple of years back . 27 to 34 are probably peak years for keepers when they've developed the physical and mental strength to have an influence beyond being a good shot stopper.

Don't believe for a minute the lad is on 20k. Possibly half that. Boggers will get a pay day in Germany I suspect and we'll keep Lonergan. Happy with that.

Kasper Schmeichel has only just turned 28 himself and there is less than 12 months between them (just). I think the main improvement for Bogdan will be from experience. To compare the two, Bogdan has made just over 100 appearances while Schmeichel has made over 350.

If Bogdan is not at his peak yet, he will not be far from it. I suspect neither of will see his peak years as I can't see him staying.

You're probably right but bogdans best years are going to be the next 7 . I thought schmeichel was a couple of years older but he is 28 as you say . Amos is 24 and may well turn out to be a great keeper and more affordable so it wouldn't be bad business assuming bogdan takes the opportunity to up his wages elsewhere . Lennon clearly likes the impact Amos has had in the last two games .

What exactly are you hoping that he might develop into? He's a proven goalkeeper of abundant quality.
