Re: Day of Destiny/Doomsday: Stoke away
After all the knife twisting this season, I'm hoping, nay expecting, something to go our way on the last day.
Hope triumphs....
Hope triumphs....

Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

Probably, but................CrazyHorse wrote:We've got fck all chance at Stoke. And Stoke are playing for something; they have the perfect chance to pay us back for the drubbing we gave them by not only beating us but being the ones to send us down. They're going to love it.

It'll be horrible. Their fans are unpleasant enough at the best of times. They'll be gagging to see us go down and rub it in.
And it's a Sunday. Work the next day. How drunk can I reasonably get to numb it?

just been chatting to a QPR fan who went to the game on Sunday and he wasn't impressed with Stoke as an attacking side but he said they were very resilient at the back...hope springs eternal

They could've had 3 or 4 against QPR though..Salford Trotter wrote:just been chatting to a QPR fan who went to the game on Sunday and he wasn't impressed with Stoke as an attacking side but he said they were very resilient at the back...hope springs eternal
If we play with heart, desire, discipline and at 100%. We'll do it.
COME ON YOU WHITE MEN!!!

In the words of Kevin Keegan...i would love it if we beat them.
As much because the QPR reaction at the final whistle of Stoke was like they'd already stayed up. Ok Fernandes well let's see if you're still doing that come next week.

That QPR pitch invasion should be on a constant loop on every TV at the training ground..

Too right !
Knowing our numbnuts players though half of them will see that and think the WBA game was the last of the season and bugger off to Disneyworld for the summer.

Re: Day of Destiny/Doomsday: Stoke away
It struck me forcibly as I was reading that that we are as bad as Clueless. Destined to make the same mistakes over and over as in an earth based purgatory. Or should I say almost - we are not being paid handsomely to suffer. Even murderers get time off for good behaviour in the UK at least.Puskas wrote:This is the problem, though. The Premier League is a farce. All the credibility of X-Factor. We know, before the start of the season, that the winner will come from one of three clubs. Pile up the money, count it, award the trophy to the biggest wad.bedwetter2 wrote:I like it! The eternal cycle of misery for a supporter of a non top 6 club. Perhaps ED will put us all out of our misery and bring in the receivers. It would certainly need more than a Golden Gamble to make up the monies needed.
But the misery - the rest of us, the fans, rather than the dilattentes, pay through the nose to be depressed. I recall a conversation, back in February or March. A few months ago, or an eternity, I'm not sure. Anyway, Friday night. Post-work. In the pub. A woman (non-football fan, not even a pretend Premier League one) asks me what I'm doing over the weekend.
"Being miserable at the football".
A few words on the depressing quality of matches, and then she comes out with the remarkable piece of wisdom - "Well, maybe you ought to change your behaviour"
Wonderful insight. Climb out of the role of psychic self-harmer, carving Saturdays of misery into my soul, leaving scars across the id that will be visible to psychiatrists in thirty years time (should I be unfortunate enough to still be alive then).
But it's not so easy, is it? Addicts, demanding our next fix of despair. Desperate for it, despite knowing the harm it does.
Another conversation. This time with my mate Mick - another misery-junkie. Probably happened last Sunday. Has happened regularly over the past few years. Always started with me saying something like, "Bollocks to this - I'm not going anymore."
"So what will you do instead?"
"I don't know - something fun. Something enjoyable."
At which point he just laughs. Not merely at the absurdity of doing something enjoyable at the weekend, but at the fact that he knows I won't. It's all just bravado. I come snivelling back for more. We all do.
Is there an intervention that can be administered? Some sort of self-help group for us? Some way of stopping this?

It's called the joy of success. Something I know is a bit foreign to you, but..BWFC_Insane wrote:TANGODANCER wrote:Or Allardyce dancing with JJ?boltonboris wrote:That QPR pitch invasion should be on a constant loop on every TV at the training ground..

Hate seeing all this negativity.
Nothing left to do now than get behind the boys.
Why are so many of you having trouble with that?

No idea, Mrs Coyle.
Re: Day of Destiny/Doomsday: Stoke away
Remember when we beat them 3-1 in their first match in the Barclays Premier League (sorry) at the Reebok?
Steinsson scored from 35 yards, Elmander scored on his debut, Joey O'Brien's dead-ball delivery was first class.
They'll get pay-back come Sunday. We've been dreadful and we'll get what we deserve.

Right - sick of all this " its in the tea leaves" nonsense. Lets focus on't job in hand
Bogdan
Boyata Ream Knight Ricketts
Miyachi Davies M RC Petrov
Eagles
NGog
Davies K - last 25 mins if we're ahead
Klasnic - if we're not
Eagles who has been outstanding for the last month told to just go out - play where he wants run them ragged and keep his shots down.
Our wingers to fly at Huth (never a full back) and Wilson (always been sh#te) or Shotton (ditto)
if Mark Davies cant play against a combination of Whitehead- Delap or Whelan well never a cm will he make.
just get job done.

Other options are to push Mavies forward (Vela in for Miyaichi) or to start with CYL so Miyaichi's pacy supersub
Not that I'm at all trying to keep Miyaichi out of the XI...

Re: Day of Destiny/Doomsday: Stoke away
Given our record at the back including yes, set pieces, we'll need to score 2 or 3 to win this.
N'gog doesn't score many but he did get the winners at Everton & Villa when we were desperate. Same again please.
Wouldn't really want Miyaichi on the pitch, too big a game that he won't give a stuff about & he'll make the wrong decisions as usual.
That's all the thinking I can cope with until the weekend on this now.
