Yeah, countered by Blackpool having better players.

Alls I'm saying is, that our readiness for play-offs/promotion etc shouldn't be judged by one game. Nor will our disappointment be any less should we not do it.

I mean should we feck up and draw on Saturday but still fluke our way in, I'd not be saying "ah well we couldn't beat Blackpool so we best not get promoted". Not at this stage, not now.
And we've got better players than Blackpool
Foregone conclusion then :?

i think DSB is better qualified to quantify his own disappointment levels...
Ah now, I didn't say I'd be any less disappointed after the fact (just less anxious beforehand), although I'd like to hope I could apply the same rule: I can't change it, so move onwards.

I'm aghast!

I didn't think you were paying attention.

It's a wider mindset change than just the kickball, but I did enjoy the Ipswich game in your company: showed that the mindset could still apply.

What would do on Saturday, then?

Go with the tried and trusted 4-4-2 at home.. Or go for a 4-3-3/4-5-1 and really press them in the centre of the park?

I've not seen Blackpool since Ince took over, do they still play their way out with the aid of a defensive midfielder getting the ball off the defenders? If they insist on doing that, I'd sit Pratley on him and work the bugger hard..

Looking on a few BP forums, most say the only thing he has really changed (improved) is their defending on set pieces.

They always talk about it as the Matthews final, but seldom mention the wing half marking him was Eric Bell, who suffered a severe leg injury early doors and could not keep the pace. No substitutes in those days. That was the first game I saw the Wanderers on tv - we'd just bought it for the coronation. I think Eric died recently.

It was actually Tommy Banks's job to mark Mathews, Monty, and Bell, the inside forward (Mortensen). Effectively, losing a defender we couldn't replace ( as you say, pre sub days) when defending a 3-1 lead was a tragedy. Bell was a hero for carrying on with a bad injury,( he actually scored didn't he, whilst carrying a leg, but it was doubtless the injury that cost us in the end.

Sadly I'll be missing the game now as my lad has just been appointed to ref a County Cup semi-final over in Oldham, a game he can't turn down and I'll be watching him. I'm gutted to be missing the biggest game we've had since last weekend but I'll be cheering the lads on from afar though COYWM!!! Have a few sherbets for me in the Barnstormers!

I thought I'd nailed it. I've got a three o'clock kick-off this week. Fine I think, no worrying at all, I'll just get back into the club house afterwards and I'll know one way or the other. Imagine my horror to find it's a bastard 12.45 kick-off. Who's fecking genius idea was that?! Bastard bastarding bastards.

I think there are some people getting their planning the wrong way around.

They seem to be doing

1) Life
2) BWFC's last match that they need to win to get in the play-offs.

I see a fairly obvious problem with this.

I'm glad it's not forecast to be too warm tomorrow. I been avoiding changing anything in my match day routine since this good run started so will be wearing the same coat I wore when it started in February regardless of the weather.
