Stop it. You'll have Lennon erecting a stone tablet of his season's ambitions next.Harry Genshaw wrote:Hell yeahBruce Rioja wrote:I'm perfectly happy to see Lennon under-promise and over-deliver.

We don’t have a lot of money to spend but if I did, I’d be looking at a striker, a goalscorer. You look at any side that has been successful in the Championship over the last five years and they’ve had someone who can get them 15-20 goals. Adam Le Fondre has done well for us but he isn’t our player. It’s certainly an area I think we need to look at and improve on.

Lennon on Mark Davies.
When I was weighing up who to make captain I looked at Mark, knew he’d been here the longest and felt I needed to test the water and see how he reacted to it.
I’m happy with how it has gone. He’s really taken to it and I think it’s given him a new-found respect in the dressing room within the team. He is leading the team, not just with his words but with his actions as well.
He’s 26-27 now, so he’s coming into the peak of his career. He should be fresh because he hasn’t played a lot of football over the years. So there’s no reason why if, touch wood, he can stay injury free he can’t have a really good four or five years at it now.
I think he’s absolutely flying at the moment. His statistics are right up there, his intensity is as high as Liam Feeney, who is always a player who gives us everything.
Mark is in a very good place at the moment and we hope he stays there. His career has been blighted but it’s not his fault. He’s enjoying being captain and he’s had a run of games that he hasn’t had for a long, long time. He’s feeling good about himself and obviously that helps us.
He knows what he has to do and he’s looking after himself a lot better. He’s lucky in terms of the fact he’s naturally fit and when you are doing any sort of running sessions he’s right up there. But we are managing how much he does, what he does, and getting that reward.

I watch Davies play the way my mum watched me play. I wince every time a player comes within a metre of him.

26-27 is the peak of a footballer's career? Makes a few players football pensioners.

A creative midfielder, perhaps. Maybe slightly older for centre-backs, can be a lot older for goalies... younger for the rest.TANGODANCER wrote:26-27 is the peak of a footballer's career?

Lennon in after match presser, and asked what was up with Heskey: "I think it's rigamortis."

I peaked at 11, in the Cubs 5-a-side nets. All went downhill after that big trophy win.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:A creative midfielder, perhaps. Re: The Official Lennon Quote Bank
it's that kind of thing that makes me like him... and it's that kinda thing that will probably buy him more time...
(though - on the face of it - joking that a player you just gave a shiny new contract has rigormortis is a bit close to the bone...)
